This really did end up as one of the most wonderful, but horribly depressing shows ever made.

When Gemma found out she essentially killed Tara for no reason, she knew she was living on borrowed time. She knew Jax was eventually going to find out.

Gemma deserves this, but killing her has effectively nailed the coffin of Jax's soul.

"You afraid of my mother?"

"Jax, we're all afraid of your mother."

Carol in the background: "just look at the flowers Gemma, just look at the flowers."

This has a garden of Eden sense. The sin started in the garden and the mother died in hers.

I absolutely love how Jax just became a bad guy in the later seasons. Top teir character devolution. What makes his downfall even better is that you genuinely beleive Jax is going to be a more morally just anti hero in the early seasons. Then he just becomes a serial killer.

Gemma was truly evil. She goes on about how much she loves her family but she allowed her child to join a biker gang to suffer through so much pain that brought him to kill her.

“you have to do this, it’s who we are sweetheart” at least she understands she’s caught and it’s over even by her own son.

It wasnt just for killing Tara that Jax does it.

But for all the needless bloodshed, all the deaths of the fellow Sons caused by the war with everyone and her hand in killing John Teller.

If this was me: “I’d like to go out to the garden”... *sprints*

If anything, this scene testifies how twisted Jax is because of Gemma and how toxic and sick she truly is…she basically goads him into killing her, knowing how he’s struggling to kill her, his own mother. The woman who raised him, loved him, fed him, clothed him…but also made sure he was a killer, without remorse. Which he was, to everyone else, but his family (Clay doesn’t count). That he would have no sense of guilt for running guns or drugs, or any other type of illegal crime he committed (theft, murder, assault), for the sake of this lifestyle of being an “outlaw, ” because Gemma wanted her fantastical-life of being the baddest bitch (the Queen) in town.

I really loved how Jax felt for a second like he couldn't do it because deep down he still loves his mom.

This show is fucking good! A lot better than it has any right to be. So many people are gonna miss out on this thinking it's like a biker's soap opera... not at all, it's tense, it's heavy, the characters are top notch and the consequences are all too real. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this years ago.

I dont think i’ve EVER hated a character more then gemma after what she did to tara and how she essentially fucked the entire landscape all on her stupid lie with juice.. she did not deserve such a peaceful death tbh

“But a son killing his mother, Jax that’s a wound too deep to heal. And I know you Mano, that’s going to swallow you up. That’s going to destroy you man.”

I could never say killing your own mother is okay.. never. But Gemma did so much crooked shit. Especially killing the love of his life, leaving him in despair. He could’ve chosen a different outcome, breaking the cycle of murder for the sake of his children but the pain was too deep to repair that it wasn’t mind over matter, it was matter over mind that took over. Tragic but true 💔
