The Permanent Records Capture Team of the Office of Chief Records Officer provides a presentation on access restrictions and how they affect the transfer of permanent records to the custody of the National Archives.
The presentation gives basic information about access restrictions on records, agency responsibilities prior to permanent transfer of the records to NARA, and our responsibilities once records have been transferred to the National Archives. Included in the presentation was the identification of commonly restricted record series, a discussion of FOIA, and public access to records.
The Team also discusses new records transfer mechanisms such as ARCIS and ERA and the importance of the proper identification of records restrictions in these systems.
