A complete mix of all the tracks that play during the Strider Battle in Half-Life: Alyx, in sequential order. All tracks are composed by Mike Morasky. Descriptions of when each track plays can be found pinned in the comments section. Track names are given in the video, and the tracks themselves can be found in the following Steam directory:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life Alyx\game\hlvr\pak01_dir\sounds\music\places\garage"

ORIGINAL POST:
I had wanted to listen to the music that plays in this battle in its entirety ever since I played through the aforementioned sequence, but I don't believe any mix exists on Youtube where all the tracks are included (most videos omit the bass-heavy parking battle segments). So I decided to create a mix to fill that void. This is my first time doing a video like this, so any feedback is greatly appreciated!

NOTES:
- I have made no changes to the tracks themselves, but I did change the duration for several tracks so that the music doesn't become monotonous or overstays its welcome. For instance, "garage_elevator" loops several times over, so I just shortened it
- Two tracks found in the game folder are not used in-game: "garage_manhacks" and "arena_finale". I incorporated "garage_manhacks" into the middle of the "garage_gate" section as it actually fits pretty well. However, "arena_finale" sounded too grungy in comparison with the other tracks and so I omitted it entirely from the mix
- To make the transition from "garage_calm" to "garage_smash" flow better, I added the impact sound of the Strider ramming into the apartment wall. Otherwise, "garage_smash" would begin very abruptly
- I added the classic Strider death sound and fall impact sound to the end of the mix as the song ends very abruptly otherwise

4:12 - parking_battle3: Plays upon encountering the third group of Combine in the parking garage
5:18 - arena_roller: Plays after lifting up the garage roller and witnessing the Strider charging up its Warp cannon
6:45 - arena_dodge: Plays when the Strider walks overhead and notices Alyx
7:18 - arena_boss: Plays once Alyx gets on the grenade launcher to shoot the Strider

Always loved how these songs emulated sounds associated with what they're scoring. For cauterizer, there's this distinct strider-esque noise, for the combine's themes they have a prominent alarm/siren motif, and for the antlion's battle theme, there's a lot of precussion because they see through vibration. Its such a small touch but it helps make every theme feel distinct. Alyx's ost isn't as iconic as 1, 2, and it's episodes, but i really appreciate what it brings to the table.

The percussion used thoughout is really badass. Those wild drums (that seems to be the motif of the Strider itself) is wild, swaying back and forth rapidly, seeming to teeter before it switches back. That's actually perfect for the Strider, since it feels like its swaying, heavy motions as it stomps around and tries to steady itself when shooting at you.

In the garage section, the slow but heavy thumbing sounds like the Strider moving around outside. My first playthrough, I actually thought that noise really was the Strider trying to find a way in.

When you get back outside you have that long, grating synth combined with only a hint of the Strider's drums, since here it's hanging back and firing behind the combine soldiers. The drums stay slow and steady for the most part. The Strider drums disappear for a second when it loses you, then come back, still slow and steady, when it looks down and sees you.

During the grenade sequence the percussion is low and rythmic, with the Strider slowly waving back and forth, of course to evade you, but the fluidity of its movements are almost mesmerizing combined with the music. It's like your waltzing back and forth with the Strider, both of you following each others' movement to land your hits, but also trying not to get hit at the same time. Very weird, but really awesome in execution.

my favorites are tied between garage gate and arena dodge. garage smash and arena roller are also pretty great but a little bit too hectic and energetic. garage gate and arena dodge are less so but still keep the same intensity.
