My Hardest One Yet! (Dragon Quest - Live MIDI Art)

Показать описание
The Dragon Quest logo (and slime) drawn live using a piano keyboard.
Download the MIDI file and audio here:
This is the longest and most challenging piece of MIDI art I've created yet. On my last live stream, I received some requests for a DQ slime and started working on it. I later finished it off stream, but felt like it was too short for an entire video - so I decided to create the entire Dragon Quest logo as well!
The DQ logo is very difficult to compose in a way that sounds musical. It has angled, overlapping letters (similar to the Pokemon logo) as well as a 3D look (like the Minecraft logo). I've already done the aforementioned logos so I had experience dealing with those challenges separately, but not together. This one took EVERYTHING I've got, and required around 5 days of work. Hope you like it!
Here's the live stream where I started working on it (towards the end):
Technical details:
The keyboard is a Sequential Prophet XL (used as a MIDI controller). The sound I'm playing is Spectrasonics Keyscape layered with Spitfire BBC Symphony Orchestra (different string instruments are mapped to specific ranges across the keyboard). No additional parts were added, everything you hear is played live. The software I'm recording into is Cubase 11.
Composed and performed by Gil Assayas (GLASYS).
