God Fulfilled His Promise

Fifty-six years ago, Israel faced an invasion of nearly half a million Arab troops positioned along her every border, each vowing to wipe the Jewish state off the map.

Guided by the providential hand of the Almighty, Israel’s fledgling military – vastly outnumbered and outgunned – waged a surprise attack against its enemies. Despite seemingly insurmountable odds, Israel’s army captured enough land to triple in size. Then, on June 7, 1967, the second day of the Six-Day War, the army liberated the Old City of Jerusalem. God fulfilled His promise to save His people and “to bring them back to dwell in the midst of Jerusalem.”

Each year, On Yom Yerushalayim or “Jerusalem Day,” Israelis and Jewish people around the world commemorate the miraculous reunification of Jerusalem after two thousand years of waiting.

This victory reminded Israel’s enemies and the rest of the world that Jerusalem is His holy city and the Jewish people remain the apple of His eye. Since that day, Jews and Christians come from around the world to worship in this holy city and remember that the Lord always keeps his promises.
