Doc Martens. An iconic shoe; they started a movement in the 60s with the punks and skinheads, and their impact can be traced to modern times, still being as popular as ever. Wether they’re the original British made high tops, or the more modern versions, they are here to stay.

My old man used to get these boots for nothing (he was a Postman for Royal Mail). They're not made the same way they used to be but they'll always be iconic.

59 years old …. waiting for Amazon to deliver the exact same 1460 DM's I used to wear to school in the early 70's. God I am such a rebel.

I bought my first Dr. Martens a week ago, I wanted a pair since I was 19, I'm now 30. The long wait was totally worth it. As I am still "breaking" the leather they're hurting a little bit, but nothing that a band aid and a pair of thick socks doesn't smooth out! Despite of all that, I'm so in love with my Jadons! They're the best shoes in town <3 I'll get more soon!

They are still as popular because they are the most comfortable shoe or boot in the world. Ive worn them for over 40 years.I've had one pair over ten years and still in good nick. The best ever. 🇬🇧👍🇬🇧👍🇬🇧👍

Ah yes, the smiths, the band most associated with 90s britpop, definitely not one who's music was majoritavely made in the early 80s. Also that picture wasn't even the smiths

Got my first dm shoes and my first Harrington coat at a sale in my school in 1982, and in early 83 a mate at Sea Cadets gave me my first pair of dm boots. I'll never forget how excited I was to get them off him, even though they had Blackburn printed in gold at the top and didn't have yellow stitching.

I've always found it hilariously bizarre, that the anarchists and punk culture, both of which spit on the oppressive concept of capitalism, were so particular about which brands they wore XD 'Yeah mate, you can oppose the system with us, you just have to wear EXACTLY the same as we do. And shave your head while you're at it!'

So I got here searching for videos on 'how to clean suede boots'. Sometimes Youtube just works.

I just bought Dr. Martens again 1460 Bex. I wish it was sill Made in England but that's life. It still feels the same.

It has the best shape (especially a new smooth 1460 Bex 8 holes) of all the boot brands.

Wonder how they've managed to use a photo representing "The Smiths" that isn't actually "The Smiths" out of all the hundreds of photos of the band available on the net?

Pete Townshend wasn't the Founder of The Who, it was Rodger Daltrey, Pete joined after his friend John Entwistle suggested to Roger he had a mate that played the guitar

I've got a question I hope someone will be able to help me with even if it's 2 years from now.

I bought a pair of Docs in 1991 when I believe they were all still Made In England but mine had the MIE stamped into the rubber so I know mine were. My question is that although I believe I had the 1460 style they were different than the ones any of my friends ever ended up owning in 2 ways.

1st instead of smooth, shiny, greasy or whatever you want to call them, mine were a scuffed black similar to suede.

The 2nd difference was I had a distinctly different tread than any pair anyone else I knew or even ever saw in media at the time or since. My pair had the pattern on the left at 0:58 in the video which meant I had MUCH better traction walking in the rain/snow than my friends.

Can anyone help me out if they know the name/style I had? I'd like to find a pair exactly like those that are MIE for my daughter for the upcoming Yule season. Thanks in advance for reading and hopefully someone will have an answer for me.
