River Fishing with my New DIY Method Feeders

In my last video, I showed how I designed and built my new extra large method feeders.

This time I took them down to my local river to put them through their paces. I used both the inline and elasticated versions, plus pitting them against a normal cage feeder rig.

Another great demo Den, they worked a treat. I'm surprised that you didn't leave the bail arm open after casting allowing the method feeder to fall in a straight line, but the proof was in the catching. Your ground bait must have been mixed quite sticky. Tight lines 🎣

I had a cracker of a day today den lost 4 double figures hooked 2 doubles and lots of small ones I fished 2nd street goes on to the soccer fields can park car close aswell and it's really shallow there

On our Club waters elasticated feeders are banned. Because of this rule I only have free running Preston ICS feeders in my tackle box Apart from some very large Avid 57 gramme carp feeders for river use (also free running ) Cuts down on excess weight for me to carry about There are so many different fishery rules that trying to remember which rule applies on which venue is a bit of a nightmare these days As long as barbless hooks are allowed everywhere that is my preference Even if a fishery allows barbed or semi barbed That first Lump you hooked was a classic method feeder bite though Some of the other bites were a bit fussy though Maybe it was because natural venue and never caught before Wild carp as you said Looked a great session I use a weigh rite spring balance scale screws onto the handle .Handy for keeping an eye on net weights in any matches 🙂 never seen you use a clicker in a match though How do you make sure you don't overfill your keep nets or are you good at estimating fish weights ? Maybe lengthen the hooklink even on a method feeder whilst on a river may work I usually assume that the fish will approach from downstream towards the feeder following the scent trail first thing they see /feel/ sense .Free hookbait

Well done Den, the feeders worked very well, what would be your preference, elasticated or free running? I have never tried the elasticated feeder, as you said in the last video, not many
fisheries allow thm in the UK. I like the new camera angles, thank you for sharing your time Den.

Great when a plan comes together. Fished Packington Lakes yesterday was slower than it has been but had some decent fish on the method. All on Mussel!

Den, I have a question? I am finding my line is twisting badly after catching a good fish which has taken line by the drag. How is it best to get rid of the twist or stop it happening in the first place? Thanks Mark. Dorset UK.
