Number 1 most valid complaint with the books and shows. Theres nothing wrong with sex in books or television but it sometimes feels as though GRRM is abusing it as a literary tool.

I generally feel as I get older that sex scenes are kinda cringe and distracts from the story. When I was younger they could be the high-light. 😅

I truly believe that in past times, when people had a tv they had no control over the programming, a radio they couldn’t choose the music, and limited to whatever books they could find at a shop or library…yeah sex sold movies and titillated shows. Now…we are so bombarded with porn and sexually suggestive stuff literally everywhere, we all kind of groan when it is shoe horned into our stories we come to for actual plot. Times have changed. We don’t need that from them anymore.

Honestly, sex scenes are not necessary. Just get the actors to kiss and go into a room, and then cut to black; the audience will fill in the blank. I am watching the show for the plot and interesting characters NOT for bare boobs and butts.

I do know for a fact that when Michael Caine said that when he used to do love scenes back then, they would just get on with it and that sometimes sort of made things work.
