How to Clear CMD & PowerShell Screen | CMD & PowerSheel Clear Screen Shortcut Available?

To clear Command Prompt or CMD screen we need to use a simple command in CMD. The same command we can use to clear screen in PowerShell. Like Linux terminal in Windows CMD and PowerShell we can't use any shortcut to clear screen. Even though with the help of some third party tool we can program and map a shortcut to clear CMD screen. But I don't think this is feasible when we can clear command prompt screen with a very simple command.

To clear Command Prompt screen we need to write cls and then hit enter. To clear PowerShell screen we need to write same cls and then hit enter. In powershell we can use clear command too. As said before like CMD if we want to bind any shortcut with PowerShell to clear screen we need third party tool. There is a new library PSReadline for Powershell v3.0 which you can use to map shortcut keys like ctrl+L to clear screen in PowerShell. As I want to keep the video short therefore in this video I didn't show you how can you use this library with PowerShell.

This command is Windows O/S independent. I mean the same cls or clear command you can use in any Windows O/S like Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP. The commands are based on the specific software not on specific O/S.

I would strongly recommend you to stick with only the cls command to clear screen in both CMD and PowerShell. You can invest your free time to learn plenty of more things rather than learn how to clear screen in CMD and PowerShell with a keyboard shortcut. ;)
