And here we are 1 and a half years later. How’s it been? I’m replying to all comments so you better tell me some cool stories about everything in life that’s happened since then!

I should also mention this video was recorded at the end of 2022, so my colonies have changed a lot since then. The video of my Carpenter ants doesn’t give justice to how they are right now. If you’ve stuck with me for a while, you know I never have colonies outgrow nests, so this is a very special occasion.

As for where I’ve been, it was a loss of everything. A loss of motivation in making videos, interest in YouTube, and ant keeping. Wasn’t intending the last upload to be the last one, it just.. happened. What felt like another long wait for an upload, eventually turned into the realization that I didn’t want to make any. Editing’s always been a problem, but for once even recording didn’t interest me. I spent more time outside, improving my personality, and my mindset in the months after. I found other hobbies to fill in the time, which resulted in Ender Ants being on a hiatus. Then I took a social media detox for almost 3 months (Well phone detox which meant I didn’t contact anyone or use my phone) So I was logged out of everything. Besides that and progressing through common life experiences, that is the main reason for my disappearance.

During that break, I worked on those new hobbies; one of which was making music. If you can correctly guess what timestamps for the song(s) I made in this video, I’ll save something special for you in the future! It’s related to a thing I’ve been working on because we’ve surpassed over 10k subscribers! When I came back it was surprising to see the channel still growing the entire time. For you reading this, I thank you for making it this far with me. A lot of you I still remember and I have nothing but true appreciation for you 🫶 You are part of the reason why Ender Ants has returned. The other part being I have found the motivation and interest in making videos and ant keeping again!

You never know where life will take you, just like how I strayed away from YouTube. I didn’t want to force myself to make videos again, because even when I realized “Wow, 1 year ago today I uploaded a video”, I still was not interested in returning. So I waited until both ant keeping and making videos naturally found it’s course back to my hobbies. Thanks again for sticking with me, and reading this whole novel.

Yesterday my neighbors knocked on my door because they found a Camponotus noveboracensis queen in their garage, and wanted to give it to me because they knew I keep ants. Of course they didn’t know what it was, but it was definitely a cool find. It’s been raining a lot in my area so I’ve been on the look out for queens.
They took me to their garage to show me where they found her and I found a Brachymyrmrex queen, which is weird because I haven’t seen that species in my area and they usually don’t fly that early. I’ve found lots of Brachymyrmrex delpilis around July and August but not this species. I also found another Camponotus queen in my back porch, it was a good ant day for me yesterday.

Cool ant room tour! I watched a couple of your older videos, I thought you stopped creating content. Glad to see your back. I actually caught a queen trap jaw (odontomachus brunneus) yesterday while grilling some burgers. She decided to hide underneath my stereo. I guess she liked listening to Tupac 😂. Any pointers on the care of this species?

I am new to your channel, and new to ant keeping. I have 1 red carpenter ant colony (just nearing 1 year old), and 2 queens I have caught this spring. One is another Carpenter ant but black, and the other is a mystery queen because im still not great at species identifying 😅

I read your comment about your youtube leave and as someone who has also been working on their mental health lately, I say congratulations to you. I am so very happy for you that you have rediscovered your spark! May you find many many more years of joy from your hobbies 😊

Glad to see a video from you. Which is the rarest ant you have? And I found one interesting thing in black crazy ant colony 2 days back. A tiny ant cricket which was walking along the trail of black crazies as if it was a member of the colony.
