They really did keep Kitty in character for this. She always wanted another child or a pet to take care of. The scene where Red mentioned grandkids made Kitty so bright and excited. She waited 15 years for this.

It's cool that they kept a lot of the 70s aesthetic stuff in the basement. You can tell that Eric and his friends are still the last people to spend a lot of time down there, Red and Kitty haven't changed much of anything.

I know people have mixed feelings about this show and the new cast, but I am glad the original cast still have that chemistry.
