In an interview on Kevin Pollak's show Laura Prepon (Donna) told the story of how she got hired. She was a model and wanted to get into acting after staring in a TV commercial in Italy. Her agent sent her tape out for new shows and she got a call to come to LA for 70s Show. She said in the final call back it was her and one other girl, who was blond, sexy, and dressed very slutty, in short skirt and high heels, while Laura was dressed in very causal clothes, and wore flipflops. The blond went in first and then Laura was called in. She did the audition with Topher Grace (Eric) and nailed it and got the part. Later the producer told her they brought the blond in first to show the Fox TV execs the type of girl they thought they wanted and Laura second to show them the girl they should want for this role of a high schooler who loves the boy next door.

Everytime I see Eric and Donna it just reminds me of my high school sweet heart, we met in freshman year when we were both 14 and we’ve been together ever since (we are both now 20), we recently broke up on good terms, ever heard the term right people wrong time? Well yea we are a good example of that, our relationship is a lot like Eric and donnas and it just reminds me so much of here seeing this show bc it was also our favorite
