My Grandma took part in the march on Selma.  Spent a night in jail for it and everything.  This is definitely a must watch for me, it hits close to home in various ways.

On Labor Day, 1957, Martin Luther King and four others attended a special meeting at a strange place called the Highlander Folk School in Monteagle, TN. The Highlander Folk School was a Communist front, having been founded by Myles Horton (Communist Party organizer for TN) and Don West (Communist Party organizer for NC). The leaders of this meeting with King were the aforementioned Horton and West, along with Abner Berry and James Dumbrowski, all acknowledged members of the Communist Party.

Wow this guy does an amazing job as MLK Jr. I don't think they could have found a better guy. I wish Hollywood would just drop their politics and do a movie about Robert F. Williams next. That would be epic.

The trailer really didn't need a rap/dubstep towards the end. Also, as much as I like the idea of a movie about Dr. Martin Luther King, the description saying that this is produced by Oprah Winfrey makes me concerned over whether it's going to be historically accurate or just race-baiting propaganda.

Born in 1929, King was the son of a Black preacher known at the time only as “Daddy King.” “Daddy King” named his son Michael. In 1935, “Daddy King” had an inspiration to name himself after the Protestant reformer Martin Luther. He declared to his congregation that henceforth they were to refer to him as “Martin Luther King” and to his son as “Martin Luther King, Jr.” None of this name changing was ever legalized in court. “Daddy” King’s son’s real name is to this day Michael King.

For those who doubt my words just google the names and organizations I have cited. Look at the FBI data base for the 60’s note that King was in China to see Mao. Note that the communists in Cuba have a monument to him as a great communist leader. Not that the FBI report following his death tells of his night before with two hookers. Just look at the facts – not the story this movie spins – but the facts and you will reach the same conclusion.

I'm all for a movie about MLK, but seeing the name Oprah Winfrey displayed prominently as the producer for it tells me this is not going to be an insightful look into the life and work of MLK, but I propaganda piece designed to insight racial hatred.  Shame, a good opportunity missed.

i have no problem with this movie but i kinda wish African Americans can get more lead roles that doesn't have to do with history like Ray, Selma, 12 years a slave etc...would like to us in some lead roles that get recognized.

I would prefer a full on Martin Luther King Junior biopic but oh well.
