I've been thinking a bit lately about how I would learn English if I wasn't an English speaker. In this English lesson I talk about the 8 things I would do as a new learner that I think would help me.

As a language teacher I sometimes find that I forget what it might be like to be the language learner. The more I imagined myself learning English, the more I thought this video would be helpful for some of you.

I hope you enjoy this English lesson and I hope my 8 tips work for you as well. Have a great day!

⌛ Remember: Always watch the video three times. Twice today with English subtitles on, and once tomorrow with the English subtitles off. This will reinforce the English you have learned!

Teacher Bob hello from Vietnam!✌😄
Thank you for 8# great tips of this meaningful lesson!👍👍👍
In general, for me, you're setting an important foundation for people who learn english, each of your lessons has a really huge impact to our life. So hopefully you'll have good preparation to every single one of them like this!🧠💡
Among them, I think the 1# is the most useful English learning tip!!!
If you don't mind, I'd like to add 2 more tips📝:
Read or watch stories, English lessons when you're bored or have to wait a while before doing something( like waiting at a bus stop). Basically you''ll get the good result when you use your time wisely, productively.⏲
Have a good friend or anyone interested in learning English. They will probably boost your morale as you study English and help you keep track of what you are learning. 🧑‍🎓👨‍🎓👩‍🎓Do you approve both of them?:)

Respectfully, Have a great week ahead sir Bob, all of your hard work will be paid off!👨‍🏫
Best wishes
Hung from Vietnam🌾🤝🍁

Hi, Bob. I have been learning English for one year. And I had more than 10 teachers on my course. They often changed. And I decided to stop, because I needed to do a lot of things with my vocabulary, and I needed to write down all rules and so on.
Of course, thanks for your job. Great job👍 Your teaching is so light for understanding. I'm going to listen to you in the future.
I like your videos about phrasal verbs.
I'd like to see your videos about gerund. Let me know, if you have them.

By the way, I'm from Ukraine. The war is still going on.

Interesting. Your effort to see things from the point of view of a learner surely is valuable. I guess many learners will appreciate. Personally, I would add something that has worked for me since I started to learn English seriously. It all turns around having goals and assessing constantly whether we are on the right path or if we are wasting our time. Learning a second language is not, it seems to me, a hunter-gatherer thing picking here and there food randomly. It's more of a farmer thing. I'm particular struck by this fact : there is a time to prepare the soil, a time to sow, a time to prune, a time to yield, a time to stock, a time to sell. You know something about flower growing. You surely understand what I mean to say. Anyway, congrats for your outstanding online-teaching work. It's always a pleasure to follow you on YouTube. By the way, I'm 75, I'm retired and I still learn and practice English, for it is to me like an additional large window over the world.
