Girl, I felt the cut with you. I almost cried along with it, but it was incredible 🥰

You made a lovely dress, but for future reference, there's nothing Bridgerton about a drop waist. Bridgerton is set in the Regency period, where super high empire waist were all the rage. I'd love to see your take on a dress with an empire waist in a future video! 😊

It's beautiful! I'm impressed with all of your work. You might want to look at some commercial patterns from the early eighties when the dropped waist was a thing. In the 80s fabric without the 1% lycra was the only woven fabric so folks put a little more ease into the fit. I also grew up in a world where a poly cotton would be washed and ironed before cutting. At least in sections. (Big piece for skirt section and big piece or two for skirt.)

Don't forget to clip rather than depend on tailor's chalk for marking half way marks. And for a great gathered skirt like that I would definitely use a gathering foot. What a lot of work!! Looks great on.

This is really one of the best seweing blogs I've seen, as someone who also sews it felt beautifully relatable, magnificent dress, and video, congrats

It looks lovely! Poly cotton does that when it’s burned. It depends on the poly content though, the less poly the less melting and the more cotton the more burning. So I’d guess this is an 80% cotton. As you say, it’s mostly burned, but you can see a little shine from the melted poly. I’m a bit confused how it’s Bridgerton inspired?
