85% of current truck owners never do "truck stuff" the maverick is a perfect vehicle, an SUV with a bed!

40 miles in the city? Wow...frankly, with that sort of city mileage, I wouldn't care what it was. The price on these is really reasonable.

I own a brand new Maverick. Its well thought out and has met every need ive had for it. Gas mileage is incredible. I traded my paid for 2013 Lariat F150 basically straight up for it... i only came out of pocket $1, 500. Im happy, I get 37 mpg, ive done all kinds of "truck stuff" with it already and its paid for.. win win

I have been on the Tacoma team for over 2 decades, I'm a mid-size contractor who loves DIY and commutes ... honestly, I'm moving to team Maverick asap. Looks, MPG and the DIY concept got me... and of course, most important PRICE

I hope the maverick is successful so that Toyota makes a compact unibody “truck” to compete. Cheap, small, fuel efficient trucks is a category id love to see have success.

Let's be real. Whether you like Ford or not the Maverick is going to sell like hotcakes. I can only hope it does as I would love to see a resurgence for competition in the small/compact truck space. As someone who has a large gas guzzling truck and suv, I have been dying for a small AWD truck for around town. I don't like Ford but this may honestly make me jump if no one else comes to market in the next couple years with something similar.

I'm definitely going with the Maverick. Better fuel economy at a better price. Saying wait till 2025 to see what Toyota will do is foolish. In three years both Ford and Toyota will likely have even better fuel-efficient engines. On a side note how did a video about the Maverick turn into a Toyota commercial?

I really hope this thing is a smash hit and sticks around for a long time while also pushing other makers to launch similar models.

Going for the Maverick. I’ve had my eyes on these two trucks, but given that I don’t need to tow anything but would like something with more cargo space than my compact sedan, I’d say I’m definitely the customer Ford has in mind for these trucks.

Love it when you go into teaching mode and take us back in time.

I think that this should be an obvious choice. Outside of the hybrid, we know that the 2.0 Ecoboost is a workhorse, and has many years of proven reliability behind it. The fact that you can pair this excellent drivetrain with a compact truck for the low $20k range brand new is nothing short of magic. No contest, your move, Toyota.

The maverick only makes me realize how much I want an el camino.

I remember when Toyota's and Datsuns made these cute little pickups. They sold like hot cakes.

The Maverick doesn't really compete with the Tacoma. The Ranger does.

I love this move because it also indicates a move towards practicality. Most truck owners don't need the massive trucks they buy, they're just posers. I know because I've seen it, high school kids that do no contracting work, driving to school in Ford Raptors... It's so silly and maybe people will stop compensating for their small wangs with massive trucks.
To those that do actually use their massive truck, good for you! Keep at it. I'm sure you'd appreciate less posers driving your cars.

After a lifetime of "over buy" capabilites that I "might" need; I'm considering a hybrid Lariat Maverick. As a retiree, mileage and cost are concerns. The hybrid Maverick is perfect for life in Central Florida.

I'd really like either of them if they made a small two door truck with a bench seat again.

I'll go with the solid reputation of dependability of a Toyota any day, even if it cost a little more.

I have my eye on the hybrid Maverick. I’m a regular camper and being able to haul a lot of equipment and still have a back seat is a big plus to me, and the high ground clearance would be awesome. Above all the Maverick has what has kept me away from trucks until now, good gas mileage.
