Born and raised in Milwaukee for the first 29 years of my life. Moved further North and absolutely wonderful when you have kids. Been other places, but morals and values have seemed more traditional than many other states. I prefer the instilled hard-working ethics many Wisconsinites share.

We may not have oceans but we have pelicans around Lake Winnebago, bald eagles, too, and if you drive to Lake Michigan shores, it’s large enough to give you ocean vibes

Hi, enjoyed your wonderful video about our beautiful State of Wisconsin. I grew up in Milwaukee and left many years ago. I remained connected with family and friends, but only recently considering coming back home. Thank you for sharing those pros and cons. Go Pack! Go!

This looks like a wonderful place. I would love to visit. I know it's cold but I have family in Michigan that got used to the Midwest winters. I was born and raised on the East Coast, but found it to be too hot and busy. I had a taste of the Midwest and LOVED it. I am looking to visit the Hudson area and other small towns there. I love the nautical scenery I see from the photos there. 😊

One thing about Wisconsin. If you enjoy golf it is a very golf friendly state in terms ofgreens fees. Yes there are courses with high greens fees. But there numerous county and municiple fourses that are wallet friendly. And depending on the weather it is possible to play in every month of the year. Not every year. But it does happen..

I'm originally from Sturgeon Bay, living elsewhere at the moment, but considering a return. Thanks for what you shared here.

Glad you mentioned the winter weather. Winter is long and consistently cold and snowy. In my experience, most people who live in WI, grew up here. It's a tough climate for people from warmer climates to adapt to. And, having lived around the country, WI, isn't any more friendly than anywhere else. The difference is often that people who are used to big cities are very nice, but rural folks are more laid back and friendlier.

Road construction is starting to reach farther into winter it seems.
Spring can be really nice except if you are along the Lake Michigan or Superior shore lines. There is a reason the weather forecasts for along Lake Michigan always have a caveat tor temperatures. The caveat being "cooler near the lake". It is not uncommon to see a 10 to 15°F difference between the temps by the lake and even 6 miles inland in spring. Conversely temps are usually slightly warmer near the lake in the Winter. Unless the lake ice extends way out into the lake. Whoopee! Five below instead 10 below. The best season of the year is actually Fall. Temps can vary between the mid 50s to into the high 70s. I'm in the SE corner and the highest temps l have seen in December through February have been in the 70s. Actually had a tornado in January 2008. Fall colors can be spotty. Especially if there is a wide variety of tree species. The different species will peak at different times.

I read about your winters. I’ve only visited snow and my husband grew up in tons of it in NJ as a kid. We’re both retired and he promised to help me learn to live in the winter when we move to WI. I’m hooked after our first visit last June2023 to Janesville and we have been searching for sales. I’m glad to be following his YouTube page! Thanks!

Moved away 15 years ago, dont miss much. Weather sucks, MKE was always great, the rest of the state not so much. VA, DE, NC and MD are so much better. Mid-Atlantic life now.

You did not mention Wauwatosa. European village feel. Events year round. Too many parks to mention. It’s on a river. That’s reason 11 yo move to Wisconsin.

Born and raised in Lake Geneva, and it is just a commercialized tourist trap. Nothing like the town I remember growing up in the 60's.

GREAT VID! SE Wisconsin is like its own state, in many ways. Expect a lot of Illinois (especially Chicagoland) expats, including their native habits and dispositions. "Wisconsin nice" as discussed in the vid, is more widespread - and pronounced - when you get to areas like Fox River Valley (especially Oshkosh).
