Split all functions and tasks into MVP and Optional. This can keep you working on what is actually important to get everything working and not taking too much time on things that are not needed.

Well, I have done college the last tip actually have a name: Requirements Analysis. Doing a SRD (Software Requirements Document) really helps. Also, it doesn't need to be complex and it doesn't need to be broken in Functional and Non Functional, which makes it extremely useful and versatile.

Only time to learn a new language/framework/etc for a project is if you are doing that project specifically to learn that new skill. Or if you are required to for work/school
