Deep mining is a waste of a development point. 3772 iron will be enough to capture all regions 3 times.

Side Note: Topeka is a Native American word that means a good place for potatoes. It is interesting for me to see this word as a city name in a game designed 10000 miles away from its namesake.

this was great, I thought I was doing something wrong since the AI seemed to always claim everything before I was ready to claim the first territory

Great little vid, just did this myself a little earlier.

You can assemble your army before declaring war and pick the high ground or area you think is best suited. That way you have the starting advantage in position and condition as you just wait for the enemy to come to you. You also don't need to fight in the marked area. These things may change as the game is developed.

I don't think we can negotiate yet. Well written intro to the game, though.

If you understand the market system or combat We'll certainly wouldn't mind some discussion on that.

The impact of the different tiers of home ect.

Some cause you to lose a valuable worker

Just got this game. First time through I contested the AI a couple of times when he was claiming regions, and eventually he came through my region, burned all my buildings and killed my troops. Second playthrough I figured out how to gain "Influence" by fighting independent Brigands and destroying their Bandit camps. Most of the time the Brigands only have one or two stacks of 18 units, so once you have 20 males in your village, you can conscript them, and equip them with the 20 spears and shields you start with, and easily take out the Brigands. The problem is sometimes the AI spots them first, or is nearer to them, so the AI beats yoo to their location and tent. After fighting the independents once or twice, and choosing to add the spoils of their camp to your treasury, you should have enough operating capitsl to recruit mercenaries. And since you get a choice of up to three mercenary squads to choose from, you will also notice that those merc teams spawn on different regions, so if the AI is between your region and the brigands, you can sometimes recruit a mercenary squad that can get to the bandits before the AI.

What if you clam a territory and for get to attack and time runs out?

That cleared up a few questions I had, I will agree with you when the archers are nurfed and not worth the selection.

In the Beta now, the AI is slightly slower and if you do things right with a bit of luck you will be ahead of the other Baron.
I found the best thing to do is to have ASAP those 20 spearmen, wait a bandit camp to appear on the map, get your man close but not aggro the camp, wait the Baron's army to enter the map and aggro the bandits. (they show up as soon as a new bandit camp spawns) As they leave their camp for the barons army run in and collect the bounty, which I turn mostly into treasury. You can do this all the time

6:31 I’m still not exactly sure how this works but from my understanding if you’re making the armor in your city it’s not necessarily free it’s that the money is transferred from your treasure to the towns local wealth. I’m not exactly sure though because I haven’t been able to actually do that yet. I thought I had all of the equipment to do so but the button was still grayed out.

Even better way than this is to GATHER YOUR TROOPS at the border, and THEN CLAIM the territory. Your troops will not be as exhausted from the travel.
