The crowbar was genius. I couldn't get the whole thing to be still. Still haven't gotten mine loose yet but I'm working on that. Thanks a million.

Great job. The GM dealer Tech couldn't get mine off so I told him to put the wheel back on and took it to a garage that knew what the hell they were doing.

Won't you damage the axle threads if you chisel the nut off?

Nice little set up never thought to use the jack stand and crowbar to stop the rotation. I’ll try that tomorrow. As it is I put the damn tire back on to stop the rotors from rotating lol. But the socket won’t fit now probably need a bigger one anyway

3/4 torque wrench and pipe definitely did the job. Thank you, it helped alot.

Couldn’t believe it worked! Thanks. I used the first method, jack stand is a must.

Def great tip.. this third time I've had to do wheel hubs.. this recent one (that's currently stuck) was attached to a bad strut/shock I replaced.. I guess the bouncing killed the ball bearings and went superman tight on my CV nut.. and the impact wasn't cutting it

Man that text at the end threw me off for a second. I was like who’s Don and then I saw Don’t. Lol 😂

Use a good quality 3/4" socket (12 point if appropriate), 3/4" 100-200mm extension on to an axle stand (chocked as required to ensure socket and extension sits square on) to steady it and then a 3/4" breaker and 6' scaffolding pole. Works every time for me. Repeat for assembly substituting torque wrench for breaker bar.

Picked my vw golf gti a month ago just found out I'm missing a axle bolt luckly my lug nuts kept the wheel on. Wondering if they'd isn't put on or if I lost it for some reason

My cv axle nut was so seized up that my 3/4 to 1/2 adapter broke(impact btw), ended up drilling the nut after hours and a broken breaker bar

I've learned that using a heavier impact socket works when a lighter weight one wont..

I had to grind it off with a cutting disc. Nothing worked 1988 honda prelude

If that bolt breaks, would you have to replace the whole axle?

DO NOT heat and add water to it. That's called rapid quenching and makes the steel brittle.

Yeah, I have that same impact and it doesn’t work for this. Tried heating it up and tried a 6ft breaker bar! All it did was bend the crow bar and I’m talking a 4ft dewalt that’s new! Fucking axle nut, no wonder the garage charges so much…. 😡

Haha. Really these are anateur tips. It it's really sized on there a little 3/4 to half inch sdapter will break. Crow bar genius? What about a flathead screwdriver in the disc brake vent. It will not budge
