What a time this was. Such a powerful song used for such a worthy cause. Thank you Elizabeth for starting AMFAR and thank you Dionne, Elton, Stevie, Gladys, Burt and Carole for this song.

Dame Elizabeth Taylor was the truth. Her tireless committment for AIDs research and using her celebrity to bring awareness to the cause. We still remember you, Miss Taylor. I salute you, Madam. Love always.

Such a magnificent song!
Dionne Warwick, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight and Elton John have voices of 😇 Angels! Love this song! I've tried to save as many recordings of them singing this song as I can.
🎶 R.I.P. Burt Bacharach 🎶

In addition to my other comment on the passage of Burt Bacharach, he created his own brand of music and Dionne Warwick was his main interpreter and muse. With Hal David, they formed a unique combination in the history of recorded music. This was their reunion song and brought a whole new generation of fans to them. Their own brand of Great American Songbook holds up well over 60 years later from the original 1960s hits. That is something that outlasted music styles and fads and stands on it own merit. I think this might have been the only appearance of Burt Bacharach on "Solid Gold" or correct me if I am wrong. Anyway, a lasting legacy for eons to come.

Burt was our George Gershwin of the last half of the 20th century, Genius, transformed the soundtrack of our lives. A tremendous loss! Elizabeth spearheaded AIDS research, removed the stigma, without her stepping up, using her voice, it would’ve taken another ten years to get meds that worked! A legend!
