There are two common types of patients, kids with scoliosis with no pain or symptoms or adults with severe pain. Why would people with the same condition have different symptoms? Every case of scoliosis is unique, but we know that it is not commonly painful in children and adolescents. If they do have pain, we normally consider that a red flag and look for another cause.

Adults tend to feel back pain at the site of the curve, but it can also lead to other types of issues. It can lead to radicular pain, capping from compressed nerves in the area of the spinal curvature, and this compression can lead to numbness and radiating pain, muscle pain, tightness, and soreness, because of the unbalance. It can also lead to fatigue in the body and asymmetrical lower body pain.

In children and adolescents, their curve is progressing because they are growing, which counteracts the force of compression of gravity. They are progressing because they are growing. But once a person stops growing, the spine and muscles are exposed to constant gravitational forces. Gravity continues to compress the spine over time, and this compression is what will eventually lead to pain, which is why pain tends to be the main symptom of scoliosis in adult patients.

There are options to improve the pain in adults, such as being proactive. We know the amount of pain a patient feels, especially as an adult, is related to some key variables. such as age, location of the curvature, how much the curve progresses as an adult, and severity.
Traditional treatment is managing the pain but not treating the underlying cause of the condition, which leads to more severe issues down the line.

Proactive treatments are customized treatment plans for each patient, integrating all the specific goals and treatment options for the individual patient. Integrating different treatment options and disciplines to provide the best possible result to reduce the size of the curve.

Most of the time, scoliosis patients are treated like they hurt their back and are normally treated with low-dose long-duration treatment. This tends to help you in the moment that you are getting your treatment, but your curve is still progressing. What we do differently we do instead of long-dose long-duration, we do high-dose short-duration. This treatment incorporated chiropractic care, in-office therapy, scoliosis-specific exercises, prescribed home exercises, and corrective bracing but in a very condensed and coordinated model that provided the best results for the patient. Doing the rapid reduction plus stabilization afterward is what produces the best results.

At the Scoliosis Reduction Center, not only do we provide a proactive treatment model, but we provide this unique scoliosis treatment that treats more than just the symptoms but the scoliosis itself. If we can reduce the curve, we can address what is causing the pain and dysfunction.

I m 35 with mild scolosis and it hurts like hell, doctors said no surgery cos its not a big curve..my scolios is made by an accident as a kid when i was beaten up and my bones were broken, so now my back is awful, when i try to hold myself straight it hurts so bad. I have no options here in my country. I wish i had surgery.😢

I have mild scoliosis and I need to see a doctor similar to what you do, do you know who I can see closer to where I live in Dallas Tx ???

I can't do any chiropractic adjustments since it is dangerous because of my spinal hypermobility. My curve is on the edge between mild and moderate, but the pain is intense. The standard exercises don't work for my body because of the connective tissue being weak, and the curve is too slight for bracing or surgery to be viable options. It's damn frustrating.

I didn’t want to mention something I have my first child at 19 years of age and I don’t know if it’s supposed to make your scoliosis worse but mine got worse. The pain part when I was pregnant and even afterwards that’s when I started having headaches and chest pains in all kinds of things, I never had growing up with congenital scoliosis Which I am not sure exactly what that means I just know that was my diagnosis when I was first born so I guess I must’ve had it when my mother was pregnant with me but they never did anything except to take me to Cleveland chiropractic clinic where people were going to school to become chiropractors And basically I was their guinea pig and sometimes when I leave there I was 12 or 13 when I started going, are they started taking me and sometimes I couldn’t even walk after they got through or I felt like I was choking and I feel like they made it worse now I have one hip app you know my pelvic is like completely hi 01 side it makes it look like one legs longer than the other and this numbness in my leg scares me are use a walker I’m on oxygen and I don’t know it looks like they’re gonna take me off SSI and what happened with that? I love to work, but no matter what I did Physical or just sitting down I couldn’t keep a job very long because of the pain and I’m the type of person I like was it wouldn’t take any medication at all not even the aspirin or Tylenol but they are cry because I’m on hydrocodone and there’s something I know about the coding are the synthetic coding that seems to ease my nerves in my spine. I don’t know if that makes sense but I’m sure I got a lot of pinched nerves and I got a big hump on one Side, my spine is like an S I forgot what degree it ended up being last time but on the bottom, I think it’s worse in the top. I don’t know I can tell you bad on both sides. The kids used to call me hunchback of Notre Dame, because my hat is very noticeable and it was as a teenager too. I couldn’t even take gym class or swimming Because I couldn’t pass a physical and that was my favorite class and I had my last child when I was 35 years of age and all my children would over 8 pounds, so I don’t know I just don’t know I’m almost 70 years old now, and I live by myself with no help It’s really hard and I do not like the way the pharmacy and my doctor ask about my medication because of the opiate crisis where the opiate crisis to me is caused from they get you hooked on these pain medication‘s and when I got them on them at 1992. I didn’t want to take them, I’ve been in a car accident and I couldn’t do physical therapy because of the pain so they put me on something called Oxsee cotton or oxycodone something like that but I told him I didn’t want to do that because it made me feel really happy which I don’t mind being happy, but I was being careless with driving too fast. I don’t know it sure made a good antidepressant but I knew it was too strong because if I don’t feel some of my pain, I think I’m wonder woman that’s how I was all the time growing up, but I have spinal stenosis, degenerating disc disease, bone spurs who knows I probably got a fracture or two in my spine, I know my knees hurt terribly for no reason that I know of my feet my veins keep busting in the bottom of my leg, my capillaries, so they tell me I had some kind of vein disease, but that isn’t what happened but if I say it on YouTube, they won’t let me post the comment But it’s true just say I was in the ER no I see you at a hospital because I fell and broke my humerus bone my right arm and I’m right handed but before I knew it they diagnosed me with it something that was going around in 2019 so I was in ICU for a month then the regular part of the hospital for two weeks then back to the ICU cause I got pneumonia, then back to the regular part of the hospital then on to another hospital for physical therapy because I had to take SPEACH Sarah P physical therapy and I couldn’t add. Subtract multiply divide I could think but I wasn’t sick with anything just went to the ER for a broken arm And they gave me a vaccine for the flu. I just put it like that but I wasn’t sick and then I got sick so you tell me what they did to me. I ended up gaining like 250 more pounds because the insulin shots they were giving me for something I didn’t even have But I ended up getting it cause my A1c, which I didn’t know what that was when I first went to my primary care physician, he said it was so high it didn’t even register so he gave me three prescriptions. Think one was for not sure insulin maybe and then for type two diabetes And gave me a book on diet. Well now I, when you get a follow that guy I used to have a health food store and that diet would’ve made me bigger. I already know that anyway basically I’m low carb and mainly chicken breast but I can’t stand up long enough to cook for myself, so I’m on oxygen use a walker live on the second floor. I can’t get down by myself I’m not trying to get anybody feel sorry for myself I mean for me because I have faith in my Lord Jesus. Oh yeah, now my eyesight is about gone and I forgot about that but I had 2015 vision or
15/15 vision before I got sick now my left eye is very farsighted in my right eye is just a blur and went to the eye doctor for different ones they don’t know what’s wrong either do I

This is the results of my last Exray's taken. My doctor wants me to consider surgery but I am hesitant due to being 69 yrs. and muscular dystrophy runs in the family. I have heard of a minimally invasive surgery which doesn't involve opening you up and infection is less likely. Have you heard of this ? I know that having surgery at my age you're less likely to heal and bounce back. I do Scroth exercises and go to the gym 4 to 5 days a week to stay active.
