My husband Dick Dale is a Showman of 65 years in the business. No One Like him as he is a Master at his Craft!

An American, of Polish, Belarussian and Lebanese descent, playing an old Greek folk tune that was also adopted by Arabs, Jews, Turks, Serbians, Persians (Iranians), Indians, Armenians, and Albanians...
Played live in England on the Jools Holland show
Just goes to show... we can all appreciate a good tune!

Dick Dale didn’t just play the guitar—he revolutionized it, inventing techniques that changed music forever. His rapid-fire picking style, now recognized as the birth of guitar shredding, set the stage for the blazing solos and electrifying performances that define rock, hard rock, and heavy metal. Legends like Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen were deeply influenced by Dale’s innovative playing and groundbreaking sound, carrying his pioneering spirit into their own music and pushing the boundaries of what the guitar could do.

But Dale’s impact wasn’t just about his technique—it extended to the very tools of rock. Frustrated by the limits of existing amplifiers, he teamed up with Leo Fender to create the first 100-watt amp, a seismic innovation in music technology. This amp didn’t just make the guitar louder; it gave players the power, distortion, and sustain that became essential for rock and metal. The 100-watt amp remains a cornerstone of live performances and recording studios, a testament to Dale’s far-reaching influence on the sound and scope of modern music.

Anyone who loves hard rock and heavy metal owes a tremendous debt to Dick Dale. He was the first to show that the guitar could be more than a supporting instrument—it could be the explosive heart of a song. His fearless creativity, technical mastery, and collaboration with Fender didn’t just shape surf music; they laid the foundation for generations of musicians to come. Dale’s legacy is not just heard in the riffs and solos of today’s greats—it’s felt in the power and passion of rock itself.

All modern live versions of this has a straight drumbeat. I think that takes away a lot from the original Boom-Cha-Cha beat..
