For my non-hat wearers and music lovers, big headphones saved me! I hate how hats look on me, and I tend to wear braids so I look like a bobblehead. However, I've realized that the thing that gets the coldest is my ears. So, wearing headphones that cover my ears and a good portion of my side profile keeps me warm and creates the ultimate vibe with good music. I think a good comprise is a scarf and putting your headphones over them to keep them secure works well, too!

one last thing I would say: play with colorful make up! I find it a lot easier to play with make up in winter since my face is already covered in layers of protective creams. frosty blue eye or very intense red lip or a lot of creatively placed blush or glitter freckles. not a fan of mascara in winter since I'm very teary-eyed but everything else is game. it's holiday season after all, the best time to be a little extra!

also goofy hats and head pieces for winter are the best. especially if you think you look stupid / unflattering in hats. to embrace it and add to it by making a statement with your hat is everything. I have my alpaca wool piece with ear covers and tied under a chin (my toddler hat I call it) and it makes people look funnily at me, sometimes it makes them smile. I don't look pretty in it or hot or flattering but it's such a cute fun thing. and it's warm!
PS i'm looking for a puffer/fleece triangle head scarf right now, thank you for recommending secondhand search, I was getting pretty annoyed with google results of brand new ones as I apparently lack in word department when it comes to describing goofy guys like this one. If anyone knows where I can grab something like it, I would be grateful!

I love how your style is influenced from your daughter… I’ve been a nanny to two girls for the past 5-6 years. Idk if it’s a chicken or the egg situation but I’ve noticed as I’ve grown older, I’m still always so drawn to whimsical/cute-core (idk what else to call it lol) winter accessories. I realized how important winter accessories are. I have a pretty good collection of different things and always add a few new pieces. It really helps you look more fun and glamorous even in the cold.

hey, Laini, you pretty much just helped me make decisions which one of coats and hats on my wish list to buy. I always migrate towards "French simplicity" in my shopping choices even though my whole personality and looks always end up more frazzled English woman/manic pixie girlie (using these names to simplify my thoughts, not to put a tag on myself or my style). well now I feel inspired to buy this colorful coat I've had my eyes on for months. I especially agree with the hair. Since, in the winter outside will be cold and sometimes even wet but once you get inside then you're attacked with all of this really dry hot air. It can really affect your hair, how it looks, how it feels and even health. So styling it in a certain way can sometimes like keep the moisture in or protect it from the harsh weather.
