Does anyone else remember wearing all those cotton Madras plaid shirts in the 70s? They were big with us teenagers, as I was then.

Seersucker works well in summer. Less wrinkly! Easy to wash and wear and soooo cool

I live in hot, humid east Texas where we start sweating as soon as we get in the car that’s been sitting in a parking lot. The sweat dries in the A/C indoors, then sweat again heading to the next place. Clothes have to be washed or dry cleaned after one wearing during the summer. A sleeveless dress or shorts is the best option, but at 63 my youthful skin is long gone. Still I try to find cute things, at 5’ 1” that’s a whole other challenge. Not giving up! Thanks for these tips!

I love you in that black linen dress! You look so sophisticated and not like you’re trying too hard. Black is definitely your color. Stunning ❤

I thoroughly enjoyed your post today. I really appreciate your classy modest styling. I enjoyed your post with Cindy Hattersly and I agree with all your inspirational people too!! I grew up wearing dresses all the time in the summer. I don't think people realize how much cooler a dress is than something with a waistband with a shirt tucked in.

You are so right about statement earrings. Recently, I bought some large, lightweight, pineapple earrings from Chico's to wear with my summer wardrobe. I never want to be bothered with necklaces and bracelets in the heat. I also purchased the 3/4 sleeve linen dress you showed from JJill in two colors. I like the longer sleeves to protect my arms from the Florida sun. My local dry cleaners offers "pressing only" so I've got enough linen dresses to always have one being professionally ironed. It's all I can manage to dry my hair in this heat. I've had comfortable dresses from Coolibar in the past also. We are on the same wave length because I have metallic sandals on order too. Great tips for hot weather.

Also in addition:
Love it that black is added...I wear lots of black and it's true:
If we're not exposed to direct sun it doesn't matter what colour we wear

I live in hot, but generally dry, California and I can’t stand anything but linen in high summer, it makes such a big difference in comfort. I have a good collection of linen dresses and separates now, all ironed and ready to wear, I’m ready for the heat! It’s still around 65F or less here (San Francisco). Unusually, we had 100% relative humidity and lots of rain yesterday, June 6.

Your print sheath dress is adorable and cool looking…reminiscent of the 60’s! Your hair and earrings are also adorable. Thanks for these hot weather tips!

Great tips! Appreciate all your work (modeling!) and positive, pleasant manner.
I’m remembering summer fabrics: gingham, plisse, voile, lawn, seersucker. Even for the guys… seersucker suits!

These are also good outfits for doctor or dentist visits, grocery or other shopping, casual restaurants, lunch or coffee with a friend, movies, indoor activities with grandchildren. I like to wear something casual nice for hair and nail appointments. I do not do yard work and have old clothes for dog walking. Great tips. Love that you included black for summer. I recently bought black linen pants. I have everything tailored so nothing is too baggy. I did buy summer weight sweaters ..a black 3/4 sleeve lightweight plisse fabric one and a bit heavier one in radiant orchid for those ultra cool indoor spaces. Love the kimono on you. Not sure how one would loook on my short and overweight body. We need to try to look as nice as possible when going out. Thank you Kay for all your wonderful fashion tips.

Thank you for these tips. I love your pink dress, you’re very pretty with it. 30° here in south of France so of course linen is the best outfit, white or beige, so nice. 👍☀️

Here’s a tip to minimize your linen from wrinkling - spray the garment with spray starch before ironing. It helps!

I like high-quality, thick rayon-jersey dresses for summer, they’re much cooler and more breathable than synthetics.

Hi, I have a few dresses and tops made of light viscose and love them as much as my linen when it's hot! Rami is also a great fabric to look for, it's very light and natural - even lighter than linen. Another tip is to wear airy clothes and avoid tight ones. I live in Greece and when it's really very hot, I tend to avoid dark or bright solid colors no matter the fabric as they immediately show any little trace of sweat. Light colors are much safer, just like fabric with patterns.
