yea once you experience a faster Amiga its quite painful to run a slower unit this much I know all too well. Then when you find an expansion card and don't have all the documentation then you need to hunt down the documentation to get the card or board to work properly and that can be both frustrating but once you get things working its very exciting.

Got for WHDLoad on my A500 Rev6A a ACE2 and a ACA500Plus with a ACA1221EC. Is fast with WHDLoad 18.5 and iGame 1.5. And is faster than a stock A3000. Got 2MB CHIP RAM / 1MB SLOW RAM / 8MB FAST RAM and a stable 68020 with 28MHz. Protracker 3.61 works great and EaglePlayer 2.05 and Demos. Running on WB 3.1 with BetterWB 4.3 wit a full SanDisk Ultra 8GB CF. Got also AmigaOS 3.1.4 on it with SanDisk Ultra 16GB CF. The ACA500Plus is a must for the A500.

Yeah... It is slow. 😁 Yet still faster than an 1995 Powermac-5400. Power to Amiga. 😉

Why is the amount of chipmem reported by WB so low? A 640x256 4 colour Workbench screen shouldn’t require ~0.5mb to display. Also, those MagicWB icons will require time to load and display, hence the feeling of slow speed.
