Mumbai Rains: In response to the 'red' alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) due to heavy rainfall, all schools and colleges in Mumbai's city and suburbs, Thane, and Navi Mumbai will remain closed today. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued the order following the city's record-breaking July rainfall, which surpassed the 1,500 mm mark, making it the wettest July since 1991. Additionally, the Mumbai-Pune Expressway's Mumbai-bound lane will be closed for two hours between 12 noon and 2 pm today for debris clearing after a recent landslide. Vehicles going towards Mumbai from Pune can use the old Pune-Mumbai highway as an alternative route during this period.
