I believe Brits use the True T pronunciation 'tuenty'.

In my own pronunciation, words like "thirty" and "forty" don't have a [d], but rather an [ɾ]... they are very similar, but the difference is that with [d], you make the sound by putting your tongue against the top of your mouth and then "exploding" off of it, whereas with [ɾ] you instantaneously slap the top of you mouth with the tongue, you don't push off of it.

Also, I've noticed "twenty" can be even further "corrupted": [twɛn.ti] --> [twɛ.ni] --> [twʌ.ni] with the vowel as in "much".

Hi Rachel. Correct me if I am wrong, but it sounds, at least to me, that there is a change in the pronunciation of the 2nd syllables for 50 and 60. They have the "Te" sound. Numbers range from 20-40 and 70-90 have the "De" sound. Your videos are extremely helpful. Thank you so much.

Rachel has a video explaining how the sound that replaces the "t" sometimes is not a "d" but more like an "spanish "r".

Questions: the fifty, sixty, seventy and ninety.
These word do not fall into the definitions of vowel + t + vowel or r + t + vowel; why we still pronounce these as flap t (dy) instead of normal t?
Thanks.
