Went the same route. Was downsizing from Toyota Sequoia and started looking for a decent used 4 Runner, Highlander or RAV 4. All the decent Toyotas we found were nearly same price as new. The ones that weren’t overpriced had way to many miles to be comfortable with. Ended up getting a new Subaru Forester for less than any of the the used Toyotas. Now we’re shopping for a 2nd Subaru.

I shouldn't love this as much as I do. I have no interest in getting a new car, or fixing old cars, but I love his energy.

My 17 manual Crosstrek is the best car I have ever owned. 80k so far with no problems whatsoever. Goes through snow like it's not even there
It can handle off road for camping trips and bad road conditions.
There's good aftermarket support, as I have a push bar light mount, rock sliders and other things to make it a very usable and capable vehicle.

Just have to thank you again Scotty for the Subaru review.. I work at the plant in Indiana so all the honest advice you share here I take to the engineers when possible. Maybe one day they will take the advice.. lol .. Be on the lookout for the new crosstrek wilderness.. Thanks again.. God bless

Will keep my Toyota, 25 years of just doing routine maintenance. Sold the first one in 2010 because I thought it had high miles. My neighbor is still driving it in 23!

I live in Duluth MN and it seems like most people have owned a Subaru or do own one. They are a really good value. I just bought a Forester because it is good for hauling around my elderly parents. It is excellent quality. The Japanese companies are very conservative in engineering and design so no nasty surprises.

Early versions of the FB and FA engines used currently had issues with the oil rings and gobbling up oil. Something to look into when buying a used one with those motors, but nothing to worry about now with new. I think it was taken care of around 2016.

I bought a 2023 Crosstrek with the 6 speed manual....I did extensive research on all the competition and came to the conclusion the Crosstrek was the best....

Amazing energy indeed, loved it Scotty! I also own a 2021 MT Crosstrek and its an amazing car, taking curves on a twisty road and going offroading, it is a beast! Plus great mileage, usable rear passenger space, comfy ride, built in Japan... Power is ok but still lots of fun to drive!

I love my '23 crosstrek sport. Might get the wilderness edition someday but as an occasional outdoors person who mostly drives in the city it's fantastic. Planning on putting some better AT tires on eventually and maybe a lift kit/coils and springs.

Scotty I only drive Hondas.
I can't believe I just agreed w/ my son to go get a Subaru Crosstrek.
The price is right in Virginia. I'm from Massachusetts so use to expensive prices.
Rock on Scotty! We love your advice!

Woohoo another Subaru video! I'm pretty happy with my 10 year old Crosstrek here in snowy Canada. 🇨🇦

Hey Scottie. Could you do a video on how to drive a manual? It would be great to learn when to shift, down shift, and how to come and go from a stop.

I owned a 1990 Subaru Legacy that was FWD. Still did amazingly well in snow with all-season tires in the Rockies and Minneapolis.

I bought a 23' Subaru Forester. The value for the money is unheard of! Mine has the new EyeSight technology and AWD... $31k. I went from a 3.0L V6 and this still has comparable pickup at 2.5L 4cyl. (8.8 0-60 vs a previous 8.1 0-60 in the V6), but the gas mileage is so much better!

I like the roof height for loading kayaks. I also installed a trailer hitch for taking a trailer to Home Depot, dump runs, picking up topsoil etc.
