The Donner DLP-124S electric guitar is the ideal electric guitar for a beginner learning to play guitar on and great for more advanced players learning how to upgrade and improve an electric guitar. I was very surprised how nice this guitar is to play. The quality of build is good and the sound is very pleasant. The electric guitar comes with a padded case, a lead and a strap. The only thing you might need to buy is a guitar amplifier, though you could start without it as you can hear the guitar without an amplifier in a quite room.

A very good review, I have both this one and thier acoustic and besides all the things you brought out, the thing I love about this guitar and the acoustic is its intonation. Bends and all it stays in tune pretty well.

I had a 1980 Gibson Les Paul Custom Tobacco Sunburst back in the day. ( 80's ). She was a dream to play. Everything about her was perfect. But I had to sell her many many years ago. Sad. Today, that same guitar is worth over $9000.00. I'm looking forward to checking this guitar out. I'll let you know what I think.

Nice. Reminds me of a Memphis 'lp copy i bought for like $135. This in '95 or so.
Pretty poor then.
Shimmed the neck and worked an import P90 into the neck slot. Played and sounded good but gave it away to family a short time later. Now, out of the box, a LP style for cheap. Y'all got it made.

I have the black version of this guitar. Bought direct from Donner UK, it cost me £100 with free p&p and also came with a substantial pack of picks covering a wide range of gauges. Just as with the guitar you demo'd, mine had no issues and plays faultlessly. The one oddity I've found is that although intonation is excellent all along the fretboard, right up to the 'false 24th' harmonic just above the neck pickup, the guitar's otherwise accurate tuning doesn't seem to like adjusting to a capo. I'm not sure what the neck radius is, but neither my G7th nor my Shubb capos seem to work all that well with it. I'm still experimenting. As with any new budget-priced guitar, changing the strings to install a good or preferred brand and gauge is always recommended. I switched to D'Addario 10/46. Like you, I treated the fretboard which is the unusual Perilla wood.

This is MUCH more than just a guitar for beginners. My personal preference was not for the gold tone and volume control knobs on a black instrument, so I switched them for plain, black, knurled knobs with a single arrow as the position indicator. Anyone who is used to playing a standard LP or LP-style guitar may find the thinner body of the Donner slightly strange - but this helps make it ideal for younger players or those less able to bear the weight of a full-on LP. My Donner weighs in at just a tad under 7lbs. It also makes a perfect guitar for couch noodling.

You mentioned the sustain, right before you did so, I actually said "wow that sustains really well" It looks like a really nice choice if money is an issue, BTW I have also bought two Harley Benton guitars, and was pleasantly surprised with my purchase. Very nice playing by the way 👍👍👍☮☮☮🤘🤘🤘
