Good Video! I'm still a baby Linux user and this type information is surprisingly hard for me to find. I would like to see a pro and con list for snap vs deb packages if you are looking for ideas.

True I agree that, since it’s our system there should be our ownership on what we install and not install. Snap under hood from canonical makes it proprietary to use their apps. Linux motive is completely concealed by this.

it is not an either or
simple apps I like using apt rpm
but when there are apps that have lots of dependencies and install additional software, for those I like to use snap

So snap type of packs are similar to *.exe packs on windows. Because *.exe packs are self-contained and are installed separately. Am I correct?

I've always been happy with APT packages, but I do see the future in snaps. The clever people involved just need to address the compatibility issues and we are good! Lets face it - apt is old now, and we need something different, but we also need flawless compatibility.

Hi, Vincent. Do they Flatpack and snap a good option for us? I really don't know what to think about. Maybe I will use the apt to install my app and just use snap or flatpack when I really don't have an option and easy way to install it from apt. But I think for new user and for developers that want to deploy they app for all flavors of Linux, snap and flatpacks make more sense.

Yep, if you run "apt install", it should never run snap. so long Ubuntu.

Am I the only one who hates the fact that snap will create a partition every time? That just doesn't feel right

Snaps are better for Developers
apt are better for users most of the time but users can benefit in some specific situations from snaps too
having additional options is a good thing
but I also don't like how you get snaps with apt that is not cool
