Upstairs Neighbor Impact Noise Examples

A sampling of the different impacts we hear from our upstairs neighbors on a daily, often hourly basis. Listening with headphones will provide a more accurate experience of the intensity of these disturbances.

These sudden, jarring impacts can immediately cause our mood to shift. The sounds range from annoying to startling. They disrupt sleep, conversations, trains of thought, etc. These are far beyond what anyone would consider tolerable.

Responsible tenants easily avoid making or can simply and effectively address the sources of these types of sounds.

We tolerate noises which are in the normal range of activity. We hope this sampling will help others understand that our complaints are justified.

NOTE: This isn't even a "best-of," as we're not recording 24/7.

I’m so tired of these idiots above me. They startle me with some of these sounds. It comes at unpredictable times. Why can’t people be more respectful of others.

I've heard exactly all these noises. Will never live in an apartment ever again. That classic noise, the one that sounds like a solid object hitting the floor and bouncing at a fast rate - throwing marbles around or something.

You guys have way more patience then I do if I heard what was going on at 2:00 go on for even five minutes I'd be upstairs banging a door down. BTW my neighbor letting there kid run back and forth for hours first thing in the morning is what brought me here. It's annoying but this sounds worse...

What gets me is when the tone is loud enough to hurt my ears, even with headphones as a shield. When I can feel my bed shift because someone in the building slammed a door.
I'm in the middle floor of a 3-story from 2022. Noise complaints aren't enforceable. If people aren't conscious of the noise they make from the outset, then they aren't trainable.
The only recourse is to move to a single-story.

😂 my family and I live in an old apartment building in idaho. If you are from the northwest you already know the type of building. Almost 10 years in we are experts at drowning out upstairs and surrounding noise. The trick you ask? A loud a/c window unit and a good TV. Only noise that MIGHT get through is the dog barking or a basketball hitting the pavement

I have a neighbor that has gotten three lease violations for all the months that they’ve had me up from 10 PM to 12:30 in the morning

And they are so disrespectful because they won’t listen to the apartment complex

AND had the nerve to come and ring my doorbell and then run, but I caught her on video because I have a ring doorbell… sent to the leasing office title in an email that said NEIGHBOR HARRASSMENT,

I’ve never met them in person, but I’ve seen what they look like via camera when they happen to walk down my breezeway

By the way, they never walked down my breezeway. They always take the back way out of the building and it’s probably because they’re scared to pass my front door.

I’ve been I’ve never had anybody disrespectful to my ceiling to let them know you’re waking me up and they stomp back now…I fight back!

I’ve had wars with my broomstick to the ceiling and I know that they can hear it and I don’t back down anymore because I let them know who’s boss and if anything they’re the ones in the wrong !

They have a very young child that lives with me too! And I’m telling you any day now I’m gonna send a big old police officer to their front door!

I live below a couple with a rottweiler and a 2 yr old who they let stay up until midnight running throughout the house.

My upstairs neighbor was cheap and dirty, she washed clothes in the bathtub! Constantly!! Heard water ruining all the time
