A New Orleans icon who sadly passed in 2019. He had a totally unique sound and persona.

Dr. John was once arrested for playing on stage with a black musician (whose name I forget) because of segregation laws. He was quoted as saying "This is stupid because next week Ray Charles is playing so you are just going to have to arrest me again". He also used to be a guitar player until he had half a finger shot off so he switched to piano.

On June 16, 1973, Dr. John was the guest artist on American Bandstand. When he came on TV, he played this song. At that exact time, I was putting on a tux for my wedding! My brothers and I all got a big kick out of the "cosmic message" that was being sent. I still laugh about it to this day every time I hear this song. Love Dr. John and all his music. Another great reaction from Jay and Amber. BTW in 6 months my wife and I will celebrate our golden anniversary - so I guess it was right place AND right time. Peace out.

He played at my parents wedding - The New Orleans icon for sure!
Also, at his memorial, it was the most moving musical tribute I’ve ever experienced !

The good Doctor passed away in 2019. I was lucky enough to see him play twice here in Germany, the first time even with Johnny Winter. I miss him dearly.

Another totally unique musician who never got the public recognition that he should have received, but had a hell of cult following.

One of the first concerts I ever went to when I was in high school. Dr John, along with BB King, Buddy Guy, and the Fabulous Thunderbirds. Not bad for one night of music. I'll never forget it. He's one of the greats!

"They call me Dr. John,
Known as the Night Tripper,
A satchel of gris gris in my hand." His first album is full of voodoo, psychedelic, swamp music. A great listen late at night in dark.

Glad you did this one! One of my favorite Dr John tunes. You may remember him when you guys first reacted to Jeff Healey, “See The Light”. Dr John did the piano solo! 👍

You all are a gift! I have played drums for over 55 years. Many if these songs from the late 60s to early 80s are in my playlist. I get filled up watching your joy. Keep it up, I will not only keep watching, I will spread the word and send some suggestions. Love to you and your children.

Y'all should check out his song "Such A Night" he did with The Band on The Last Waltz! You'll absolutely love it and get to see Dr. John perform as well! I actually got to meet him at the buffet line backstage at a Hot and Spicy Food Festival where he was one of the headliners and my little college band was playing one of the small side stages. He was gracious as could be, and fairly blown away that I addressed him by his given name, Mack Rebenak. I learned that from The Last Waltz movie - Y'ALL SHOULD ABSOLUTELY DO THAT MOVIE, BTW!!

This was from his 6th studio In The Right Place and was Dr John's biggest hit.
It's been featured in several shows and movies. Fargo, Dick and Jane, American Horror Show to name a few.
His voice is so cool and full bodied. Just a great song. Great reaction .Bengals leading 7-3.🐯🐯🐯 Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤️❤️ 🇨🇦 🇨🇦

Aaron Neville is also from New Orleans. He did some beautiful solo work, collaborations with his siblings (The Neville Brothers) and some gorgeous duets with Linda Ronstadt. 🌺✌️

An American icon, RIP DR. John. May I suggest more from him? Try Walk On Guilded Splinters and Such A Night.

This is one of his very upbeat songs, but The Doctor can bring you DEEP into Swanp music and Voodoo mysticism. He was a greatly sought after musician.

Dr. John ( Mac Rackenback) is New Orleans music royalty. Have seen him too many times to count. We sadly lost him about 3 years ago. Always a great show. He is also the inspiration for Dr. Teeth in the Muppets Band.

This is the second time Dr. John is on your channel although it’s the first time he’s singing. He was playing piano in the Jeff Healy See The Light video.

"such a night" or "Walk On Gilded Splinters" are two other great Dr. John songs.
FYI: it was him playing piano on the Jeff Healey" reaction.."See the Light".
He was a much in demand session player who played with just about ever major rock act. A real talent.
