#Shorts Always remember this:
Both career paths, whether it's as an enlisted Pararescueman or a Combat Rescue Officer/Special Tactics Officer, have their own unique challenges and rewards.

Aaron may have a preference, but it's important to recognize that these are different roles with varying training and paths. Take the time to fully comprehend each option before making your choice.

Above all, stay determined and never give up. Your commitment will make all the difference.

Enlisted with a degree and landed a six figure job one enlistment contract later, I laugh when people say I wasted my degree. It was a great experience and got to deploy to see things I never would have.

As an ex enlisted guy, service isn't wasted. All experience is valuable. Good call, Aaron. That being said, I dont give a shit what others think.

Officer is a career, enlistment is a lifestyle.

Never thought I’d hear a veteran say “let’s watch our words”

This is a good representation of the differences

While it may not be a total waste of time it's definitely not the wisest financial decision of the two nor is it typically the best route physically to take the enlisted route over the officer route. I'd more than happily have continued to have a career over nerve damage and pain and difficulty with walking and remembering shit just to start with. All injuries that would've been less likely had I gone the officer route and I still could have had great opportunities during and after my career was up. Now I'm 28, having to fight for every inch of ground in recovery and finding a job and a home of my own and I've got it even easier than most folks with worse injuries. They both can be equally righteous paths depending on how you go about it but the difficulty is nowhere near comparable. I'll commend folks all day for deciding to enlist over being an officer but it is 8 to 9 times out of 10 the least wise of the two.

I agree, for the long term, if you just wanna do a few years and get out, I’d say go officer all day because you still get to do most of the things enlisted folks do your first few years in, your just in charge of people right away unlike enlisted, at least for infantry.

Is being an Officer actually worth it, or should I go enlisted?

As someone who missed the boat on marine enlisted, my only chance is going officer lest at my ancient age of 25 years old I get routinely chewed out by 19 year olds

Officer should always be the first choice. Telling someone with a degree specifically to go enlisted is bad advice. Get the money.
