NEW Massive Rocket Slingshot (#short)
This machine yeets many rockets into space. Developed by a company called Spin Launch, they hope to put rockets inside a big vacuum chamber, spin them up to around 450 rpm, and then release the rocket. This is an actual small-scale prototype that has been able to launch a projectile 5 miles into the air. This is still a ways away from the 40 miles the rocket will need to reach before its engines can carry it to space. The company hopes to build a full-scale version that can make space launches dramatically cheaper and more eco-friendly. Obviously, they’d be launching cargo that isn't humans seeing as they'd probably die. But even without humans they still need to prove it actually works at that scale.
