I'll admit, hearing your intro music with a new game gets adrenaline rushing through my blood and a smile on my face. :) Keep it up, Chosen!
P.S. Hope you like reading :)

You can open presents by clicking them, but they don't give much. Some Christmas items like snow, maybe some money. For the longest time in the game that was the only way to get snow items to build a snow biome, they didn't spawn naturally.

Waterleaf is good for a lot of essential potions, like instant health, lifeforce, and obsidian skin. You'll probably want to start farming it now, as it only blooms when it's raining or snowing outside. Potions are your go-to in this game, even more than Minecraft. When you do your first bossfight, you'll want to have a bunch and a "buff all" key assigned.

Also, sand and silt have gravity, and they will kill you if you are not careful.

Caving is half the game. it's cool to explore the map, but unlike in Minecraft, the map has an end (2 actually, one on each end with an ocean on each side), so you will probably want to spend most of your "idle time" underground, especially early game. Explore the world (and hint hint the skies) when you have a few more mobility items from crafting and dungeon looting.

I think you're going to love the Summoning class. :) Other classes are Magic, Ranged, Melee, and Turtle (usually included in Melee).

All Banners provide a unique buff (seen in your buffs bar) - they have an area of effect, which will let you do substantially more damage to a mob or creature. Banners of the same kind do not stack, but you can have as many unique banners as you like, and an advantage against an enormous amount of mobs, and the buff will only take up one slot.
Banners are dropped on your character every 50 mobs of the same type you kill; usually this is announced in chat on your bottom left. Keep on eye on chat, interesting things happen there sometimes...

"..I saw a butterfly and thought 'I'm gonna kill it'" My gosh, Chosen, is _that_ your first instinct with butterflies?!

Read your tooltips. Like, all of it, not just the stats. There's some very handy information, like the fact that the livingwood cannon does not consume ammo, or that the first staff you were using had a limit of one summon. Also, there's fun quotes and references at the ends of tooltips for a lot of items. Those are always worth a read.

You're maxed out on your current set of Summoner's armor. Only two minions total, not per staff. And your staffs have their own limits.

14:30 Please say "Aglet." It's such a small thing, I know, but it annoys me :P

If you look closely, your Depth Meter is an "Angry Depth Meter" Angry is one of the enchants randomly applied on craft. I think that one gives you +3% overall damage with any weapon. All the stats of any weapons in your inventory are updated automatically to match these sorts of passive enchants and buffs.

The Guide to plant fiber cordage is actually VERY useful. In a lot of caves, you may have noticed vines. Normally, these drop nothing, but with that book, they will drop vines you can craft into vine rope (which you can build climbable ropes with), which can be crafted into coiled rope (basically throwable rope lines). It's one of the funnest and most useful ways to get around in caves, which can have crazy elevation changes.
Regular rope is more rare and can only be found in pots and dungeon chests.

Cobwebs are very common underground, and can be broken easily by swinging something, as you've noticed, but they're also very useful. Get a lot.

You can use items, including potions, in your open inventory. You don't have to put them on your hotbar to use them.

I love your veinminer mod, What I could have done with that...

Place torches wherever you go to make sure you can get out of your cave. You can place them on the background walls, I think, by holding control or shift or something.
Edit: *Facepalm me. Magic mirror!

Orange bloodroot = Orange dye :) For your armor and pets, mostly. Cosmetics are a huge part of what makes this game fun.

DON'T FORGET THE STATUES! For farms, or ya know, just for decoration and long-distance chest labeling.

Fixed your bed problem, from the Terraria wiki:
For a bed to function properly and allow you to set your spawn point, the following criteria must be met:
*The bed must have enough space. The room doesn't have to be any specific shape but the area of the room (including the walls, ceiling and floor) must equal at least 60 tiles but less than 750.
*Enemies must not be able to spawn in the room; The room must have player-placed walls behind it. The background walls can not be a naturally-occurring wall. This includes dirt, mud and the background walls in Chasms and the Dungeon. (Player-placed dirt walls will work). Holes in the background wall must be no larger than 4 tiles wide or 4 high. (For example, a room that is 9 wide and 4 high split with a background wall down the center is usable as a bedroom).
*Wood platforms can be used as the room's floor or ceiling.

@ 07:08 - That's the entrance to the Underground Desert. It can be dangerous for early game players; there's a worm that spawns here called a Tomb Crawler that can kill a new player in 2-3 hits.

When you wear a full set of armor e.g. your living wood set, you will get a set bonus which can be observed by holding your cursor over the armor in your armor slots, also the thing that float above your head is a sentry, only one sentry can be active at a time but it is still worth having around.

The acorn staff said only one may be active. And the seed cannon said it does not consume ammo.

Its a long time ago I played Terraria, but I remember a hook and climbing claws were very useful. You can upgrade the claws and hang on walls when, it's great for mining and shooting on enemies. :)

vanilla terraria suggestions for your actual playthrough:

i suggest making a flower farm as soon as possible, you'll need and use a lot of potions! check the use of the glimmering flower (blinkroot :P ) that you found the last episode :) when it's raining you can harvest waterleafs! so plant a lot of them, and explore the surface. fishing in between episodes can be really helpful too

I would recommend making the flight wings with 8 avian cartilage, dropped by harpies, and 10 feathers at a arcane Armor fabricator bought by the blacksmith npc which is post eye of cuthulu.

So you'll end up getting a lot of those thingies, but personally, the radar is much harder to get ahold of "normally" depth meter being a mob drop, radar chests only. but the money Trough is so good one almost might think it's modded! it's a portabl piggybank! [look for the pink ingot shpaed thingy.] try and get that, otherwise you're farming bloodmoons for a lowish droprate from flesh zombies, and dripplers. Ohhhh, sandstorm in a bottle is low drops too! the bundle of balloons is fun for early game.

Try to make the slime staff with the tokens so you can have multiple minions (I think you would have 3 extra with the seedling)

When you have it zoomed in it makes it so your health hidden, and when your in combat the viewers cant see how much health you have left when fighting. Idk if its just me but it kinda annoys me a little. just some constructive criticism.
