No other tutorial explained that you need to adjust the settings on export if you're using .264/.265. Thank you for being the only one who is thorough!

Love this tutorial Colin! Your enthusiasm is infectious. I chose your tutorial on this subject not just because I always enjoy and learn so much with from them but first up because of the happy look on your face! Your style is so explicit and doesn't assume prior knowledge about the topic which make them so easy to follow. Thank you so much!

quick question, is there anyway with this new update, to finish subtitling a full video, and then export as an SRT file, only to then IMPORT that same SRT file and somehow change it to an open caption? I don't care if the subtitles are burned into my video, but I want to be able to animate the subtitles and add video effects to them. I know if they are open captions you can do this but I'm not quite sure if its possible anymore. you used to be able to do it but now with the auto transcribing they took a lot of the customizability out it seems. if you know how to do this that would be MUCH appreciated and if you take a look at any of my videos you can get a solid idea of exactly what I mean by putting video effects on the subtitles. normally I have to painstakingly manually subtitle using titles but I hope to speed that process up much more by auto transcribing. thanks in advance!

Thanks appreciate you making this. I'm deaf so it's great that more and more companies are thinking of this and integrating. Google came out with Live Captions which works really nicely. And this transcription feature will work great to put a link to it next to an embedded video.

Ignore my previous post. Apparently, I have to open the captions tab in the Media encoder and choose 'burn captions.'

Editing or typing new caption segments seems to be EXTREMELY laggy. Like, I type something and it doesn't appear on screen for another 2-3 seconds. Extremely frustrating when typing new captions, and even moreso when your typing results in a typo and you have to fix that. I have 64GB of RAM, which is not being filled up, and while my GPU does have some usage, it's not peaking out either. CPU is barely being used, same with my disks. So I have no idea what's causing the slowness of this new captioning method. The old style was a smoother experience for me because of this, even though I like the concept of the new process.

EDIT: I just tried it on a blank project, and it types perfectly. So the issue is that I'm typing captions on a sequence that has thousands of edits on it. Obviously, this shouldn't be an issue as Premiere should be able to handle that, but alas. In the mean time I think I will render out the sequence to a format that encodes quickly, and create a new sequence with just that encode, and continue my subtitling work on that, since it will be much faster. I hope adobe fixes this. It's a massive issue.

Thank you for this video!!! I'm finishing a feature in Premiere with Spanish to English translation subtitles and have been a bit confused on the difference between Closed Captioning and Subtitles. This saved my team and I so much time!!!

It all looks wonderful. However, I could not find the "Transcribe sequence" button. My Premiere Pro 2021 is in German language I have to add. However, I did not seee why this would have to be different from the English version. What I had to find out is that I had to apply for early access to Speech to Text. I filled out the form and I was told that I would hear from Adobe in a few months(!). I also changed the language of the interface to English but obviously it did not change the fact that the transcription button is not visible.
I am really disappointed about a new feature which is not even available for all.

Hi! Came across your tutorials many months ago and LOVE them! A work colleuge pasted this along for work purposes because of the video devleopment I do, just so happened that I was subscribed to you. lol

Do you happen to know if there is an easier way for speaker selection? Is this automatically or entirely manual? Thanks!
