Rodney Marquez explains his Halibut Tips. He explains the effectiveness of the drop shot technique. As most anglers do not have access to live bait, Rodney explains his favorite way to catching halibut either from boat or from shoreline.

Recommended Gear:
Any Medium to fast action rod with either a bait caster or medium size spinning reel.
Line size with a 2 oz weight should be from 15lb to 20+ lbs
Line size with a 1 oz wt should be from 8-12+ lbs
Hook : Gamakatsu size 1 straight worm hook.

Pair the drop shot with any plastic lure of your choice; such as a white or chartreuse curly tail "grub" or a fluke type plastic.

Good stuff! I’m from Michigan planning a trip to San Diego in July. My goal is to catch and cook some fish out there from shore or pier. Catching a Halibut would be great but I’m open to anything (“edible”). I’ve been going through your videos absorbing the knowledge. Thanks for the content!
