Setting Up MAME and Launchbox in 2019

Running Mame and Launchbox in 2019 is so easy and gives you quick access to literally thousands of arcade classics from the 60's to early '00s.

I spent some time over the past two weeks getting it set up in anticipation of a larger project.

Take a look at the video and tell me if you guys have a similar set up or if you are keen to do this too. It's very easy, just needs some time to download all the files and configure correctly.

Google for ROM reference sets or go to relevant Reddit threads to find out where to get those files.

Notes - my MameUI version is actually 0.209 and my rom set was 0.193. This meant I had issues with Capcom games as the newer Mame was looking for a sound file with a different filename. A quick rename fixed that. Alternatively just download the matching Mame application version to you rom set and you won't run into compatibility issues :)

Using mame is a nightmare, using it with launchbox is level 10 nightmare!

I've got an old I7 Laptop lying around here somewhere with a busted screen and no upgrade potential. The GPU is an entry-level standard Dell Intel GPU. What kind of PC build do you need for a MAME build and would those specs work for a build like that?

What I do is download the full romset and then immediately delete half of it from my hard drive using a .bat script made from the categorized list of games that comes with MAME.
