As an asian, I am very surprised how many western people also don't like unnecessary sex scenes..I used to find them very weird while watching Hollywood movies..it used to break the moments ..it even doesnt fit the character ..as a viewer, I find them very uncomfortable and feel weird

I genuinely can’t stand sex scenes in regular movies. Especially because I mostly watch movies with family and friends. Keep the sex scenes in porn, and out of my family movie night 😂

I liked it when in the old days there was a romantic scene, it was all done by imagination, they went in for a kiss and then it was left to your imagination. You don't need (well I don't) to see them trying to disappear into each others mouths, and all the intimate action. The old films were a lot more classier and enjoyable without all the gratuitous sex and violence.

Okay, so I find this really interesting. Most people find sex scenes to be pointless but maybe you just prefer movies with different stuff but here is my input. SKIP THE SCENES or better yet DONT WATCH THE MOVIE.
Now my opinion on sex scenes is that they can symbolise many things, the intense emotions one can feel, how their exposed bodies can resemble the truth or that they have nothing to hide, or how one can use their body as a advantage over someone.
This can be done well (like in Blue Eye Samurai where the sex or nude scenes are just ❤) but sometimes it can be done in a way that can make you feel discomfort and irritation. Personally I feel like 50 Shades of Grey’s sex scenes are just pure if a wattpad original got really popular energy but maybe I just need to watch it more or read the book again to find more depth into the scenes.

Some comments are in favor of removing sex scenes in the movies. Don't get me wrong, a lot of current productions add these scenes unnecessarily when it doesn't have to do with the plot. However, sometimes they are necessary, for example in the 2023 film The Peasants, sex scenes could not be missing. Reymont's secret, which brought him an Oscar, was the depiction of the life of peasants, ordinary people. Love, hate, passion, sex, rape, violence and much more, it is a story about human emotions. We can't just throw away such an important part. Sex can be delicate, tender, it also can be recorded with brutality and shame - this is how rape scenes are created. Let's stop thinking that sex doesn't exist, or sex is everything. It's part of life, one of many. Some actors don't want to play such roles, others don't have a problem with it, and that's totally okay

As someone who has acted in a (was not rated R) production with a sex scene. It’s not as uncomfortable as many may think. It’s really all so fake. Nothing shows, nothing leaves you vulnerable, you aren’t in the scene very long they’re quick and short takes, the camera angle does most of the work. But I will agree that the production/series could have just gone without that scene anyway as it didn’t really add to the storyline.
