Copenhagen Pickpocketing Attempt in Nyhavn caught on GoPro.

After getting off our cruise ship, we checked in our luggage at the airport and toured the city for the day since our flight did not depart until the evening. We had a gopro mounted on the shoulder strap of one of our backpacks. The amazing thing is that our son did not look up once from his ipad during the incident.

This was a team of 3 people. See if you can spot them all.

I had an identical situation in Florence many years ago. I saw a gypsy trying to put her hand in a tourists bag so called out to the tourist to close her bag quickly. There were a group of gypsies working as a gang. In fact at that time there was a big pickpocket problem in Florence.
The gang pushed her backwards against s shop window, all the while distracting her, holding a newspaper up against her motioning for money. Then one of the gypsies went round the side of the tourist and attempted to help herself to the purse in the bag. When I called out one of the gypsies walked over to me, walked so close I had to walk backwards and spat at my face. I was about eighteen at the time but I can remember it as clear as day. I was frightened and disgusted. When I hear about gypsies protesting about being marginalised I wonder if that would be the case if gangs of pick pockets didn’t frighten and harass people. I don’t approve of marginalisation, ever, there is no excuse. But I don’t approve of the menacing behaviour I personally experienced. Menacing behaviour I have sadly experienced several times from such gangs in big cities all over Europe.

an adult woman that spits at a couple who are out for a walk with a small child in a stroller, how low can a person get. She isn´t worth the pavement she walks on

Just be as vigilant as you can. I was just in Paris for 7 days and was ready and alert. Someone did unlock the purse of my wife but didn’t get the flap open... stay away from people but don’t look scared. They are in packs so be careful...

guy in the white shirt was part of it too, they were passing things back and forth and placing them in the bag under the sweater, then when the others got caught he suddenly ducked right into the store like he was nothing to do with it and i suspect they had already pick pocketed the guy holding the camera as i suspect that's where the items came from that they were placing in the bag.

Also be aware that in London there are large gypsy gangs operating in the Marble Arch area near Oxford Street. They roam all over London or on the Edgeware Road begging and have cards explaining that there are hungry and need to feed their families. And that they want your money. It’s interesting to watch them suddenly pull out their implements of crutches, bandages and little children to get your sympathy and your money! The police say that they make a lot of money so do not feel sorry for them. Also in the underground trains, not necessarily gypsies, pickpockets in general like to operate there. Bags with flaps or satchels are a prime target. As I live in London, I try not to walk around with a bag on my shoulder. Everything is put in my pocket in the front where I can always feel that it’s there. You learn to travel with a small wallet and your phone and look for people moving in the opposite direction of the crowd as they are looking for their next victim.

Same thing happened to my husband in Florence, he was student then and was backpacking with a friend. He had a waist bag with his passport and money. They were surrounded by a group including teenagers and pregnant woman, asking for money, my husband said no. Luckily a good Samaritan witnessed it a he immediately approached and told to check. The (thief)woman from the group, had taken the passport, from the waist bag. If that man was not there my husband would be stuck in the foriegn country.

Looks like the local Good samaritan spotted them in seconds - clearly a known danger to locals, but tourists aren't so savvy.

Yep, Gypsies from Romania...they don's speak Spanish...it's Romanian.
