Why does Rick Shiels make this SAME mistake as all MID handicappers?!

There are far to many of these super common faults that are destroying strike and compression with irons for Rick Sheils and its the same for so many MID Handicap golfers! It really needs to change! Yes, this is the addictive way to start striking the golf ball that gives crazy compression. There is no better feeling in golf than a perfectly struck iron shot from the fairway which means you get crazy compression, ball then turf but for many amateurs that doesn't happen often enough but for my clients this does, using this compression hack!

In this lesson I show you exactly how Rick Sheil's & you can transform your iron golf swing strike with 2 simple adjustments through an addictive drill in just one session add at least 15 yards to every single one of your irons with far lesson effort with compression of the golf ball with your irons!

Well done Alex, a very fair assessment of Ricks swing given that it is one very small sample. Rick generally does a great job when you think that there could be a million people watching and critiquing his every swing but even the best players in the world have input from knowledgable coaches who themselves could not survive on tour, but that does not mean their input is not valuable. Great drill and kudos to you for that brave video, more like that please.😊

Hasn't RS just got a typical 90s style swing where players were taught to swing from L to L, as opposed to a more modern body rotation driven swing with passive hands?
Ultimately the former can generate more club head speed but has less control over face path relationship, whereas the latter keeps the face square almost entirely throughout the swing and results in a more solid contact despite less club head speed.

This exactly what I have been working on since my last lesson. A feeling of the hands coming round a really tight corner and exiting low and left so that the butt end of the club is much closer to my lead thigh at around a 3 o'clock position. When I can do that and consistently have the club head at that position pointing up the difference in the golf swing and the results are astonishing - the swing feels effortless and the ball flies 10-12 yards on average further. I will never be the longest hitter in the world but getting a 6i that instead of carrying 156 yards carries 168-170 yards is a game changer

Fantastic yet simple instruction. The drills shown in this video would help many of the same people in this comments section who were triggered by you mentioning Rick shiels and therefore not particularly interested in the content in this video. Keep it up mate.

I achieve this basically by focussing on rotating my left hip. Everything else just follows nicely. Has helped me tons.

I hope Rick takes it in the spirit in which you gave it Alex. I know when I get sloppy I get handsy like this through impact. It does impact people of all handicap levels at certain times. If I’m unbalanced and looking for a bit more from a club I can get this for sure if I don’t think about it first. Knowing your swing tendencies is the best way to keep yourself in the zone.

I’ve been swanning around 12 h/cap for months. Tried something completely new last week. Severe wrist cup (job Rahm). Took a while to feel comfortable, but the ball compression is insane. Rising 8 irons. Higher spin. Straight shots. Ball compression is everything.

Alex, thank you for this video. It has come at a perfect time. I suddenly started to struggle with my irons while hitting my driver well. I will be using these drills at the range on Thursday.

Your videos over this past year have helped me way more than his ever did. Lol

I have watched a lot of Rick's videos. He does hook a lot of iron shots, as well as blocks to the right..

Awesome video, think this might help. Been hitting it good, fairly straight, with the odd nightmare left hook. Lucky enough to have a launch monitor, found my path was really inside with a face closed to path, result when matched straight. Tried everything with limited success, but got a feeling of my turn my left side through ball, was looking for a drill rather than a feeling to help, think these could be just what I need. Thanks

Rick just posted a video on his HIT channel where he tried Jumbomax grips. He specifically talks about how he is a very handsy golfer and the grips helped force him to be more body rotational.

Enter the Open Alex, let's see what you've got

I watched him do a review of the Jumbo-Max golf grips and he struggled with them because he could feel that he couldn't use his hands to close the face. He even said that he was going to have turn his body to more than usual to close the face at contact. It generally works for him with his usual clubs, but for most of us, manipulating the club face with our hands is a recipe for disaster.
