vector space equipped with an inner product such that each cauchy sequence converge

Fortunately I could learn this before going deep in quantum mechanics 2❤

Informally, a Hilbert space is a collection of objects such that (i) any natural combination of said objects also produces an object within the collection (ii) there exists a way to measure the size of the objects in the collection, that can also then be used to measure sizes of the objects relative to one another. Such a definition is useful to describe collections of objects in the natural world. Quantum states are one such collection.

See the comment in the reply for inaccuracies in the above, if you can understand it. The above is meant to provide an informal understanding. Note that translations are often lossy due to the lack of mathematical rigor in the statement.

Just learning QM and what Hilbert space is. Isn’t the point of using H space is to prevent problems at infinities?

sol Hilbert Space is subset of Euclidean Space?

Very interesting can’t believe that the lore of the Vex from Destiny lead me here

Hilbert space contains all the possible quantum states (could be infinite ) in the universe or any quantum chemical system. Fock space contains the all the possible quantum ground-state of a any quantum chemical system or the universe. Fock space is a subset of the Hilbert space. Richardian space contains all the possible quantum wave function states in the multiverse. The Hilbert space is a subset of the Richardian space.

Now is there something for a n-dimensional space, where is not solely an integer?
What if we got a space n=√2? What would this even mean? Or is this just space of n=2 with some √ transformation applied everywhere?

My x wife had a lot of space between her ears there was and still is nothing there.

Aha. Conceptual space(s) versus physical space.

This is not exactly true. Hilbert space is used in qm but it is not defined as the set of all possible states of the wavefunction. It’s a vector space with an inner product that is cauchy complete

That is not a definition of a hilbert space 😂😂😂 is more simple!!!😂

I am sure that this is not the definition of hilbert space

Amazing that space has different explanations. It is also, great that mathematics is a vital tool that is used to understand this. This is a revelation, and perhaps when they fully understand this, space-reality, are synonymous with infinity, and that means anything is possible!

physicists use the english language poorly, and it's one of the biggest reasons why people struggle with it so much. the nomenclature is so arbitrary it's basically meaningless.

wonder how it can be seen as large or small!? Only if it is comparable to something without space!? The real meaning of Space is “Heaven”!? And how large or small is that!
