The National Defense Strategy Commission concluded in its report on the 2018 National Defense Strategy that “the security and well-being of the United States are at greater risk than at any time in decades…if the nation does not act promptly to remedy these circumstances, the consequences will be grave and lasting.” Following their testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee and before the submission of the new budget request to Congress, FDD’s Center on Military and Political Power hosted co-chairs of the National Defense Strategy Commission Amb. Eric Edelman, senior advisor at FDD, and Adm. (U.S. Navy, Ret.) Gary Roughead, former chief of naval operations to discuss their recent report on the 2018 National Defense Strategy. Bradley Bowman, senior director at FDD’s Center on Military and Political Power, moderated the conversation.
