Glad that Mr. Livingston appears to be back on Saturday night, after recently missing two or three shows. It's just not the same without him. Love his slightly grumpy attitude and dry responses, as if his patience is always being tested. :)

When Peter Graves wasn't trying to contact Mars, he was busy creating giant locusts and working with other various killer aliens from outer space. He was one busy scientist during the 1950s. He did the University of Minnesota proud!

Peter Graves. Like so many actors from his generation, despite all they did prior, I know them from Airplane. "Ever seen a grown man naked???"

Marvin Miller was a well respected radio actor. He also did TV and movied.
His most memorable TV roll was in the show, The Millionaire. A show where a millionaire would give one mill to a stranger an they followed their lives. Miller was the character Mr Anthony would distribute the checks.
And of course, Peter Graves was the brother of James Arness of Gunsmojke.

More of a Cold War drama than a sci-fi movie. But it's still a classic, so I'll be there for it.

The canals on Mars go back to early telescope viewing, and were mentioned in a book. Which inspired the War of the Worlds novel by H.G. Wells. And then the 1938 radio show, which was broadcast like a news broadcast. Some people tuning in later missed the message it was just a story and thought it was a real invasion.

Obviously by the comments, this is the best film yet. Like or allowing your fear to manifest itself as hate, the number of people commenting is pretty high. Good job guys.

For a second, I read that as 'Angry Red Planet', another sci-fi B-movie from the 50s.

The New Castle After Dark channel showed 'Shadow of the Vampire' (2000) yesterday night starring John Malkovich as German movie director F.W. Murnau directing his movie 'Nosferatu' (1922) with Max Schreck (Willem Dafoe) playing the role of Count Orlok the vampire and the movie has a great twist and concept, so I highly recommend it as a fun horror movie to see on a Friday night or during the weekend. :)

Interesting. I didn't know this existed. Especially one from the early 1950s. Usually it was radio shows that did things like this.
