For the lucid dream gamer one, I can vouch for that being true. Whenever I'm in the middle of a nightmare and things get bad, I can manifest a pause screen and "exit" to wake up.

The lucid dream one actually makes alot of sense! People who play video games are used to controlling another world/reality that is different from their own, even if it doesn’t differ too much. This allows for them to control the world in their mind

Just as an FYI, salt was never worth more than gold. They still knew about the ocean. Soldiers and others would get a salt stipend because sodium is very important for bodily health, but would be really be paid in gold/denarii. Feeding your soldiers was, and is, a common requirement for a general or a state.
