Blender Texture Painting : Layer Painter Tutorial

Blender 2.8 and 2.9 offers great features for texture painting, but no layering approach like you know it from Substance Painter. In this video I show an addon called Layer painter that can be used to for texturing with PBR materials, layers and masks.

10/10 addon, this really needs to be implemented into Blender. The current texture paint is pretty bad because you need to work destructively (or workaround with a very complex node tree). I was searching for a way of painting with layers and i'm so glad this exists :D

Nice video! Just to let you know, you can rotate the HDRi background with LP by pressing shift+rightclick and dragging in the viewport. So you don't need to use the slider, that should be very helpful to quickly change the lighting :)

One question though, can you still assign cloud/musgrave texture when doing the painting so that it's not so bloggy?

Nice vid. But the metallic and roughness doesnt display on the model's material. I mean it changes nothing when I change the value. I do everything exactly as you do. Blender 3.6.4

can we replace color with scaled image texture? will that affect the other layer? I dont want it to affect it the top layer, or below layer, whatever is the case.
