I'm a North-east dude living in Seattle, A Pizza Scholls in Portland is hands down the best pizza in the NW. Has been for years.

Grew up in New Haven. Ernies was our go to due to geography, but Modern and Sallys were also in the mix. Live in Portland, now, and that article sort of didn't make its point clear. There might be a couple pies in town that compete directly with the New Haven pies (Apizza Scholls, Red Sauce). The point they were tying to make in the article, though, is that Portland is more than a single style of pizza. You've got the farm-to-table style (Lovely's Fifty Fifty), Detroit, New York (Scottie's), Neapolitan (Nostrana, Pyro, Otto), etc, and there are exemplary offerings of each style in town. I look forward to you coming out and trying a bunch of places out.
