Rope - Movie Review

My thoughts on the 1948 Hitchcock classic 'Rope'. The non-stop camera and the claustrophobic apartment sets make for great suspense and tension as two guys try to get away with murder, followed shortly after by an awkward dinner party, one that includes a suspicious James Stewart. A great film, even if I can never quite catch the Hitchcock cameo...

I just discovered your channel on old movie reviews, and as an avid viewer of classic films I have been enjoying them. For "Rope, " I would add 2 FYI's: 1) the actors who play the murderers are John Dall (Brandon) and Farley Granger (Phillip) 2) the characters, like the actors themselves, were LGBT. Although the gay subtext was never overtly stated, it was there throughout the movie. Back in those days, because of the Hays Code, filmmakers and directors like Hitchcock had to be creative about getting the messages past the censors but not the audience.
