I’m 7 days into my rotator cuff surgery. By far the worst part is trying to sleep with the sling on. Looking forward to burning it in my fire pit in a few more weeks.

Glad I came across this video. I'm a side sleeper and have had very little sleep since surgery

Glad I came across this video five years after it was uploaded. I've never had to experience a situation like this, but for one of my assignments at school I had to write an essay on how first aid would be applied to a shoulder dislocation in a certain scenario, then act it out in a little skit. THIS was what I needed for the acting part. Now I understand how to support the arm correctly. Thank you!!

After 3 surgeries on my left shoulder. I found that by stacking all the pillows in the corner I can lean into them as if i was sleeping on my side. Best sleep I have gotten since.

I am not a back sleeper but I am trying to adjust as I can get more comfortable while awake on my back. It has been 9 days since surgery and I am still chasing a good night’s sleep.

The only painful part of surgery is sleeping with the sling on. I hate it.

what brand sling is the "patient" wearing? is the padding part of it?

I love the way the "patient" is able to move so easily. That is near impossible with open surgery on a shoulder, trust me I have had this experience. Total pain most of the time, sleep is a wish and moving like that is complete rubbish.
This video is about as useful as a chocolate fireguard.

The very last sentence: "...if they're not back sleepers." All the recommendations are for recliners or positions where you are on your back. Nice to have at least recognition that not everyone can sleep that way + advice on alternative.

Just had a shoulder arthoscopy for labrel repair and loose body removal. Watching this the morning after a nearly restless night. I have a recliner, but i can't operate the foot rest. I had to resort to using my coffee table as a foot rest. It's fine at first, but it puts pressure on the knees which is really uncomfortable after a while.

Going to try the side sleep method tonight, as im more of a side sleeper anyway.

Yea, sleep would be nice. Maybe next month 😂. It's good to learn there is nothing wrong with me. Video is helpful.

Get a recliner. It's a thousand times more comfortable.

I had a cervical fusion about 18 months ago and am two weeks post op from shoulder is miserable. What works for my neck DOES NOT work for my shoulder. I kinda just surround myself with pillows and support options at night and hope for the best

Keeping that sling on so for long probably caused more damage to the entirety of my body alignment than my original shoulder injury did. 2 years later I’m still trying to untwist my body and I haven’t stopped doing exercises for it since the surgery. GET OUT OF THAT SLING ASAP

Incredibly dynamic and enthralling; much like a book that was dynamic and enthralling in its narrative. "Better Sleep Better Life" by William Brook

So tell me, how does someone that lives alone do this? I think this assumes that you have some help and in my case, I will not have any help.
